I read on the GL1800 board from Hal that "Honda just announced a big price reduction on the Runes that are left in the Honda warehouse. If you wanted one now is the time"
Anyone know HOW much they are discounted??
rune_giant you got your ears on? Now it's your time to actually have one,Brand new too! Cheaper then used. Good luck! dog

Of course the big question is...WHAT COLOR TO GET???
I like all 3, but blue and black the most (though the one-off yellow is way cool).
True, all colors look nice however the one off yellow is not worth more than the rest of the colors and the guy that's selling it appears to have convinced someone to bid atleast $23,000 which is a shame if he or she thinks there's some sort of value to go along with it being a rare color.

Wouldn't the fact that it is actually the only FACTORY yellow increase its value? I would think so, especially if the VIN reflected that. Its hard to even buy a NEW one for that price.
If the bike was never driven or registered, perhaps one may feel that it's worth an extra buck or two for the fact that there's only one in that color.
Had Honda included the yellow as an option along with the other 3 colors, which one do you think would sell the least??? YELLOW
Someone would be more likely to pony up a bit more for a one off bike if the color was a bit more appealing. We all love our Runes and if we choose to have a different color and we can have ours painted as some have done, it won't hurt ones resale unless they choose a rediculous paint scheme that no one likes but themselves. Unless one plans on driving there bike till it dies, consider carefully what we change ie: color, as it could have a drastic effect on resale when you quickly learn that your taste is much different than everyone elses. If there was an identical bike to the one off seen on ebay with the exception that one was factory painted and the other was done professionally afterwards, I wouldn't pay a substantial premium for the one off like this guy is looking for. In my eyes that bike is worth around $18K.

I'd have to agree that the yellow bike is unique, anyone could take the time to strip the tin and repaint. I bet that you could even buy the rune logo decal from honda with just a little wait time for shipping. And yes 18K would be a fair price if you asked me.

i talked with the owner of the yellow rune. i may be interested if there was some documentation confirming his story. it would definiily have some increased collectibilty if you document it. if you cant , it just another rune.
i tossed around the idea of buying it and sell mine but with out documentaion i will just keep mine.

Now that's the right question to ask!
If he could document that the factory pained it it would be
" One of a kind ".

wow its deal time, check cycletrader.com for the prices from that Ohio dealer,
one of the guys on the vtx board just ordered an 05 rune and got his local dealer to match the price off of cycletrader. :P
dam, I will need to look at the $$ again.
for those of you who don't know, I came within a hair of pulling the trigger on a chrome rune, I found one in spokane wa for 20k out the door so I went to my local dealer and offered the same 20K on a chrome one they had and they turned me down.
On the ride home I decided that I really didn't have 20k in disposable cash, and it turns out that was a good thing because my 20K home improvement project ended up at 40k. (but we are much much happier with the final project than we probably would have been with the smaller initial project) I just got used to asking the contractor "so how much more?"
But posted the contact info on that rune, and the blue one in ca for 19K, and I think folks here on the board snagged the deals.

Yep got it ordered today and they say it should be here in about a week. I think the tenesse dealer will be about $500 cheaper. They were at $22500 before the $3000 price drop.
After painting so many vtx's and m109s I can't wait to spend some time laying out the paint scheme on this one. I order the black cherry any pics of runes with custom paint.

I can't believe how cheap those are at the Ohio dealer. I have got to get my local dealer to look at those and see if he's willing to do anything close to the same.
Wow!
Local dealers will most likely be reluctant to match those prices due to minimal profit margins for a bike that's not in stock. Other than factory to dealer cash which is obviously needed to move these unsold bikes, not sure what other means Honda is offering dealers for moving a Rune and can only assume its not the allocation of another one for their inventory. After dealers saw this bike sit for what felt like an eternity in their showrooms, it would have been rare for anyone to request another. Call it a hunch but I'm betting there's nearly as many unsold Runes in the so called "warehouse" than there are in the hands of owners. This may explain why so few dealers have any and we see so few on the road.

I have been doing a lot of looking....local dealer would not budge off the $27k tag. What is the best deal to be had?
$20,000 will buy an 05 and all come with the chrome wheels. Great deal for sure. To sweeten the deal, Honda should include the 4 year extended warranty for a total of 7 years at no charge.

I found that a lot of the dealers were not aware of the $3000 reduction, until I told them. I don't think the dealers are pushing them. mine should be here Fridady!
One can fly to any destination in this country for $350 or less with advance notice and at times on a last minute deal. If you structure a deal with an out of state dealer that requires your presence at the dealership, go ahead and spend the few bucks and then arrange for the bike to be shipped if you don't plan on driving it home. $1000 to ship would be an average long distance haul (1500 miles +) so you're out roughly $1350 or so. Add that to the $20K you can buy a new 05 left over for and you still end up with a smokin' deal. Look beyond the local dealerships and start enjoying your new Rune!!!!!
If a Dealer was to place an order, Mother Honda would guarantee that dealer preffered quantities of what ever the hell they want in the future. And there is all kinds of incentives to that very dealer. Don't let them fool you, there just lazy to do a good deed for a Bargain Hunter. It's beneath them Keep pushing your dealers. I'm experienced with How dealerships work bla bla. They might match the price if you are willing to go and ride it back, try that on em and if ya have to lower your standards and pick it up with a trailer ask for some gas money. dog

Yeah, I considered that when I talked to Ohio yesterday and then having it shipped. The only fault with this plan is there's no way I could register it here, since it's from a dealer and the sales slip has to show 0 miles. Kinda hard to get that past CA DMV, vs. a used one where I can get the owner to give me a receipt with the required 7500 miles. Option B would be ride it back, though I don't know how to register it there not being a resident (and you have to show some kind of reg when riding...and still not 7500 miles though when I got here register it...). Plus it would take more than a day's ride (I have two days built-up since our group became Northrop employees).
But I did find a used, low mile one practically up the street from me.

You get 30 days to register a car or a motorcycle. They give you all the necessary paperwork and temp tags so you can ride it for 30 days. All they need is your drivers license. You should get it insured as soon as they give you the VIN though.

They have them listed at $17500 (or something like that). And they don't charge a set-up fee or anything else like that.
Hmm...wonder if I can get 7500 miles on it in 30 days (or maybe hook up the speedfix device).

You can buy the speedo module from BikeBandit for $470 and the SpeedoHealer for about $100. Run the mileage up to 7500 on the original module, register the bike and then swap in the new module. If you're worried about keeping everything original, do the reverse and run up the mileage on the replacement module. This will require two swaps to get back to low mileage.
For under $600, you have a CA-registered bike with original low miles. Sell the high-mileage module to another Californian that wants to import a Rune. You can probably get back the original purchase price because it has the "right" mileage.
It should be no trouble to argue that you put on 7500 miles in the 30-day period allowed for registration. Leave some bugs and dirt on the bike when you go for the inspection so it doesn't look like it was just uncrated.
Finally, put some miles on the bike so it doesn't look like a speedo rollback on its next inspection or if you want to sell.
For $17,500, I'm trying to convince the wife that I should import one of these to use as a parts bike.
hope they dont sell em so i can get another new on when i get tired of this very ugly blue thing i got........ha ha ha ha !
FYI Honda has given every dealer which had a Rune in stock 5000.00 total per Rune and now apparently there is another discount only from Mother Honda (Wow) 8000 dollars off-too bad some folks paid 8000 dollars more then the asking. I guess they thought this bike would take off and sell like hot cakes,oh well. There is also a ton of discounts here on this board from stuff, parts that were all bored of or don't want and need to get rid of. Cheap too! rune_giant you could almost build your own from this board and the Wreckers............dog

WOW, now I really got to get some $$ together,
also explains why a local dealer, with the same 04 rune on his floor for the last three years, just put it in cycle trader for 19k,
Now if only I can find a portland oregon dealer who will sell an 05 for 20K or so out the door

Go in with a bank draft for $20k and tell him you want a crate-fresh 05 from the Honda warehouse. See if he bites.
