Any ideas for a superthin/soft dust cover that I can ball up into my jacket, and just put on when out on a ride and stopping for a while?

Hopefully it's thin/small enough to put in a pocket. Maybe with a thin elastic string to hold down to the tires.

Goliath,

I use a Neilson Riggs dust cover for parking in the garage

And a Tour King cover for the road. About the size of a soda can, comes with a draw-string carry bag, and I stuff it in the tool pocket under the seat. This is a H-D Dyna sized model, but getting him to make one for your Rune would be the best thing.

David, which one of those covers are you mentioning? I love the fact that you can put it in the tool area. Exactly what I'm lookin' for.

Poppz, thanks for the info.

Golaith,

The Neilsen Riggs (light blue colored) cover is like a bed sheet, but not as tight threaded. It goes on the bike when I park it in the garage for extended periods of time (winter hibernation). It is too bulky to carry, it stays in the garage.

The Tour King http://www.tourkingcovers.com/ is what you want to carry with you. It is like the material used for camping tents. It is a pretty thin guage, but very strong. It rolls up into the size of a soda can and then into its draw string pouch. I stuff it in the tool box under the seat.

Like f6rider I also have one for the Wing, and I have one for the Bushtec trailer I pull behind the Wing.

Give him a call, his phone number is on his web site. Tell him to hook you up with the next size up from the one he sold me; mine is a half size too short over the fender and just a touch too tight at the headlight.

Again, if he could make a custom one for the Rune that would be best. He could probably sell a few here to board members.

Tx for the info. I will call him on Monday. I'm looking for something a little larger, meaning covering more of the bike, so it's less conspicuous. Hopefully he can make something like that.

Covering more of the rear fender, and headlight + front fender would keep it out of sight.

But..., covering more over the engine and pipes and the vendor might baulk because of the potential for melting / burning from hot pipes & engine.

I've trailered the Rune a couple of times. My trips home from Chicago to Abilene include an overnight stop midway, so I carry my DOWCO bike cover I have for the VTX. It covers the Rune completely, and has heat treatment for the pipes (I'll off load and ride the bike a bit before turning in for the night). The cover doesn't do well at speed so the bike is uncovered when I'm rolling.

But the DOWCO cover is WAY too big to carry with you. So I still think the Tour King custom made for the Rune is the best bet.
