New to the board guys and don't want to take up much of our time but I need some input. I currently own a M109 and was looking also to pick up a new Harley Road King so I can 2 up on trips and such. But then there are these deals on the 05 Rune which for looks just knocks my socks off but how feasible is this bike with 2 up and maybe some saddles?

I went from an 06 Road King Classic to an 04 Rune and never looked back. As far as two up riding and saddlebags, you may want to buy an old bagger for the days you need the extra room.

Just be careful you are not trying to shove a square peg into a round hole. I absolutely love my Rune, but when you go two up, there is not much room for baggage. Not sure how much stuff you are planning to take.

For my money, the Rune is one of the finest motorcycles ever built and Honda used very high quality materials. That being said, if I was interested in a 2-up ride, I go with Gold Wing or BMW. If you must put a 2nd person on a Rune, I believe that it works only for short rides. To me, the Rune is a blast for single riders only.

As a 2 upper I guess I should jump in here.
My wife got on the net the night I brought my Rune home and low and behold a Corbin rumble seat shows up at my door a few days later.
Although she misses all the extra storage the Wing had, she loves riding on the back of the Rune.
She wears a small backpack that rests on the flip up backrest when we ride local, so she's happy.
I have a T bag that I can slide over the backrest if we are going out of town (see avatar - Key west)
As for the handling, no problem. We have been riding 2-up for over 30 years so I don't even know she is back there (except when she's rubbing my neck)
You will lose some ground clearance in the curves (as I learned in NC on the snake) but I'd rather have my cutie on the back to keep me warm and happy when the ride is over.
So if you want to ride 2-up I say go for it, you won't regret having the best looking cruiser on the road.

Psst,if you can afford it get em both. If you only get the Rune you won't lose your Harley friends you'll get more of em. You can donate the M109 to goodwill and feel good. Good luck. dog

If your 2up rides are gonna be longer cross country rides(250+miles a day) then buy the HD bagger.

Well I'm just talking some day trips maybe to the Keys or Daytona. Most are less than 200 miles.
