I know this board has covered this in the past but could someone tell me the difference between an 05 and an 04 Rune? Also what is the difference in the spec 47 and chrome package? Is this just the wheels or is there something else? Thanks for your help I hope to be purchasing a Rune in the next few weeks if the sale of one of my bikes goes through.

all 05 are chrome wheels, and have the 'honda' on the rear fender made of stick on individual letters. (easy to remove)
the 04 is spec 47 wheels (painted) or chrome and the 'honda' is a decal and I forget if it is under the clear coat.
'chrome package' refers only to the chrome wheels,
good luck, I am trying to find the $$ also.
also tring to find as good a deal as I found last time I almost got one. (long story, see thread from Feb 06).
good luck.

05s have different pivot covers (1-piece instead of 2-piece) and updated front-suspension springs and dampers.

Thanks for the info. I guess it is a matter of what is available to cost ratio on deciding what to purchase. I almost purchased a few months ago but decided to go with another Harley. If the Harley sells I will go and get a Rune this time. I will see this week if the deal will go through or not. I have a 1800 Goldwing and I was afraid of having 2 of the same "kind" of bikes. This time I will follow my gut instead of input from others. Thanks again.

(...) and updated front-suspension springs and dampers.
:?: Any details? Is there something wrong with suspension on 04 models? If so, Honda should replace it on warranty...
What about weight of 05 Runes? Why they are heavier than 04 (04- 794 pounds, 05 -811 pounds)?

If you check the part revision numbers (the last three digits) on the front cushions (Honda's term), the 05s came with higher rev numbers. Any warranty replacement of 04 parts should use the highest-rev parts. Some 04 owners have complained of clanking noises when going over sharp bumps. I have not heard any 05 owners make this complaint. Note that Honda won't replace a part under warranty just because it has been updated: the original part must be faulty.
Here's an example for the 04 left front cushion: 51500-MEC-003. "51500" designates the part type (cushion); "MEC" designates the vehicle of first application (Rune); "003" is the revision number.
The 05 left front cushion has the following part number: 51500-MEC-013. Note the higher rev number. Later-production 04s also seem to have this part.
If Honda decides to use this part on later bikes or other models, higher rev numbers may follow. The higher-rev parts are usually better and are backwards compatible with older parts. The new gas cap for my 81 CBX is up to rev 067. It looks different than the original rev 001 part, but it fits just fine. The seal, vent, and key cover were changed, presumably to resolve deficiencies with earlier revisions, although the original cap did last 25 years.

Thanks, asacuta! That's a very usefull information. I've checked on Ron Ayers page: http://www.ronayers.com/browseparts.cfm ... 00-MEC-003 (http://www.ronayers.com/browseparts.cfm?searchstring=51400-MEC-003)
As You can see "This item has be Superseded to a new part number: 51400-MEC-013".
These cushions are expensive...
