OK everyone, As per Rune 102’s Request… The 26th Annual Cycle World International Motorcycle Show. Presented by Toyota, by the way when did they start making motorcycles? Well anyway, the show is Friday December 8th thru Sunday December 10th. I have heard lots of good things about this show but have never gone, so its time to change that. This time we have a little more lead time then just a couple weeks on Palm Springs.

We would like to get a group of Runes going down on Saturday the 9th, the show is open from 9:30am to 8:00pm. It is located at Long Beach Convention Center, 300 East Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach, CA 90802. The cost is $13.00 for adults, $5.00 children 6-11.

Here is the website for more info:

I'll be there early on Saturday just to get in line. How about we meet at the honda display between 1030 to 1100? BY whatever goldwings they have on display. Usually a good turnout for vendors and some good deals.
Tons of nice bikes.

LA is a direct flight from Calgary. Does anyone know if this show is worth burning up some of my airline points?

I have never been to the show before, maybe Rune 102 can comment about it. Here is a copy of a PM I just received from 1COOLMC

I live in San Jose, about 40 miles from the San Mateo. Have attended the show for several years. If you are a bike nut and want to see all the manufactures new products, then this is for you. There are also some custom bikes on display and other related stuff to motorcycling. I am attending the one this year. Don't feel like riding the 10 hour trip to Long Beach. If you check the schedule the show is in Washington the first weekend in Dec. Maybe the Runeriders in Oregon and Wash can get together.

P.S. The bike show in 03 is when I first saw the RUNE. Spent more time looking at it then all the other bikes.

Well, looks like I won't be able to make it. I signed up for the motorcycle safety program (been riding dirt 30 years, but need to do this so I can get my license), and the first ride day is the 9th.

I'm going to see if there are any dealers going that I know, who would be willing to show off a set of the bags.

we will be sorry to miss you on Saturday. The show is longer than just the one day, maybe you can go to the show on another day.

Bummer.

Very true Greg...But,

Business is business and pleasure is pleasure unless you can mix the two together and either make buisness a pleasure or pleasure a business. But you have to be careful about making pleasure a business, you don't want to get arrested for that.

The show is always great. Tons of motorcycles and vendors. You always find good deals on everything. Nice customs and all factory bikes. I usually go down on friday night due to less crowds. I plan to go down in AM on Saturday but I can't ride down. My wife is flying back in from germany in the afternoon. Kind of hard to bring her home on the rune. No time to ride back and swap vehicles.

Buy your tickets online and forget about waiting in the long ticket line. You print it right at home.

ah.....every time i see Rune 005's signature file....and see Yucaipa.....it brings back memories. memories of my younger days. memories of a certain ride that my best buddy made....riding at high speed on I-10 between my home in Loma Linda....and his home in Yucaipa. and on the way there....riding at that high speed, a certain CHP gave chase. and in our younger days....we thought we could outrun him.

so the chase began. by the time he got into the town of Yucaipa....there were MORE than CHP's after him. He'd make some ground on them, but then he'd get in some corners or residential areas ....and they would close ground. Soon, more and more cars....sherriff.....local....joined the 'chase'.

He knew when he saw a helicopter in the air.....it was time to either give up the chase or take drastic measures. fortunately, he got to some appartment buildings right next to his house. he ducked in there, and snuck to his house and got a sheet to cover the bike. the bike was parked under a carport in the appartments. he didn't dare move the bike the rest of that day and night. police cars....a helicopter......cops were swarming everywhere looking for him.

but he got away! Of course, i'd never do something like that. Nah....never.....

actually, back then, mid-late 70s, cops couldn't use radar in California. So Ron....my buddy ....and i, would run about any speed we'd want. we'd cruise in the high dessert in the low 100s. we'd watch for cops clocking us....since they had to clock you (since no radar). several times, we'd see them clocking us....and ....well.......we'd lose them somehow. i won't elaborate.....

but still, we got our share of tickets. Ron had a refrigerator covered with tickets stuck on with magnets....like they were trophies. back then, we'd just post bail (the price of the ticket)....sign up for the defensive riding course....take the course, and get reimbursed the ticket cost...all but $5 to cover the cost of the course. the instructor in the course got to know Ron and I on a first name basis. One year alone, Ron went to that same class 14 times! oh, if you took the class, the ticket never showed up on your license. NO points....NO insurance problems.....

ah....those were the days. And Rune 005's signature/avatar...with Yucaipa listed....always brings those memories back 8) :) :D

i was stationed at Norton from 75-79. i met my wife while living in Loma Linda (NO...we are NOT 7th day Adventists....just happened to live there cause it was close to the base and cheap!). We got married in the outskirts of Riverside....place called Assistencia Wedding Chappel....and old Spanish Mission.

i rode with the San Bernardino Vallery Ramblers back in those days. That was my second Military assignment. But i'm from nowhere....dad in AF 20+ years...me in AF 20+ years.

lived here in Bama since retiring from military in 95. i moved here in 92. So, since i've been here 14 years....longest stay of my life in any one place, i call Bama home. plus, now that i've bought all the land we have for the horse ranch, i don't see myself ever moving.

i'm a redneck "wannabee". 8)

You may be a Redneck if ...

You got stopped by a state trooper. He asked you if you had an I.D. and you said, 'Bout What?'

You think God looks a lot like Hank Williams, Jr., and heaven looks a lot like Daytona Beach, Florida.

You were acquitted for murdering your first wife after she threw out your Elvis 8-tracks.

Your grandfather died and left everything to his widow, but she can't touch it until she's fourteen.

You've ever had to scratch your sisters name out of a message that begins, "For a good time call..."

If you guys are riding down to laguna beach on saturday and it doesn't rain let me know, I may want to ride along with you guys down there, although if I go I may have to ride back alone because I would have to cut out early and be back at home by no later than 3:30.
I have to attend a job related annual christmas dinner on that evening.

WHat a co-inky-dink!

I worked at the Ballistic Missile Office on Norton AFB in the early 80s, after a 6 year "membership" in the USAF.

Did my share of high speed sport bike runs thru Old Waterman and the hiway to CrestLine. Managed to survive my own stupidity...

If you ckeck the first page on this subject there is a web site on the shows. Next one is this weekend in San Mateo, about 10 miles south of San Francisco.
I live in San Jose. Not sure which day I and some other California Sightseers will attend. Were are in a rainy period this week.
I was in Solvang last weekend. Did not ride to Long Beach because of the bad weather.
