Flat tires

I'm planning my trip to Panama City next month for the Valkyrie gathering-my first long trip-about 600miles each way. One of my concerns are flat tires. What precautions does one take to lighten the impact. Thanks

keep them properly inflated. And bring a tire repair kit with a CO2 cartridge inflator. I have (knock wood) never had a flat in 21,000 miles of riding - however I do bring the tire repair kit on anything over 200 mile away from home.

Thanks. I have not heard of a CO2 pump but that makes a lot of sence because it should be small. I'll check out the web and see what I can find. I need something that fits into a small space. :lol:
