Took the rune out for a 5 hour ride this Sunday and can't tell you how impressed I am with this bike. I was actually surprised at how strong it is off the line and a little surprised that it wasn't stronger in the higher mph.

I was ridding with a few vtx guys and did several rolling runs with a 1800 c. He has vance and hines and some intake mods but nothing else. We tried several rolling runs with both of us in different gears to see how the bikes would compare.

He always pulled away quicker and I never could make up the initial jump he would get. We do this a lot with my different bikes to get an honest comparison and not just trying to prove one is faster than the other.

What surprised me was that the bike seams to have a speed limiter around 132. It would hit 131 -132 and never get past it. He pulled away and said he hit 140. I know all of the speedometers are off so the speed isn't the issus.

Just wondering is there a limiter and has anyone removed or bypassed it? I hit the rev limiter around 99 in 3rd and around 121 in 4th, does that sound right?

This may seem like a dumb question, but like a new car, aren't you supposed to take it easy on the engine on this as well and let it break in before racing it or cranking it wide open? Otherwise you can cause some serious damage? Or does that rule not apply to street bikes?

As far as the limiter, I don't know.

edit: According to the thread on "How Fast?" there is a limit sensor that seems to cut off at 135 mph.

The book says not to over rev it for the first 300 miles, I have around 750. It might be a little early but not pushing it all the time.

Look at the attached thread, using the speedo healer seems to bypass the rev limiter:

After the first few miles (300 miles if you want to follow Honda's recommendation), you can run it as hard as you'll ever run it. As a matter of fact, a few full-throttle blasts are just what the rings need to seat nicely. It will take at least a few thousand miles for the drivetrain to fully loosen up.

You’re right on the money with the Limiter speeds
I hit the Limiter at 100 mph in 3rd
Top speed I've hit was 135
