I was at the corbin store in Daytona yesterday and they showed me a couple of pics of their new bags on a bike. They say it should be public info withing a week. They had someone from California take pictures and send them over to their cell phone so it was a little hard to see but from what I could tell they are going to look a lot better than the current fender they have. No idea what the price will be.

How do they compare to the bags I'm making?

I've seen one set from Corbin (Good name for the bags) COR-BIN! Anyway they were on a Bike in a Honda shop in Chicago and boy they looked like crap and way over priced without any discount either. I believe they wanted 3500.00 dollars ontop of the retail dollars on the Rune Sugjested price plus the bags. FYI dog

I like your style at times...this is good information. Thanks for the excellent feedback...sounds like rune_giant is making one incredible set of bags that ALL will be very, very proud to show off...maybe we can plan a trip to Corbin factory to show them 8)

I am wondering how you could have seen them for the rune when they have not been released yet?

They are the fleetliner bags but they have not posted pictures of them yet. They had someone take pictures of them in California and they sent them to they guys in Florida but they were on a cell phone so very hard to see them.

More pics!

These are of the one model we're making (yes, there will be two, once we're done getting this just right). I took the model to the local Honda dealer to see it on a Rune, check clearances, etc., and I'm pretty happy. They really don't stick out too far (just shy of the engine guards) and look to be in really good proportion with the bike. These don't show it, but a small styling mod has been made to match something else on the bike.

WOW! That looks like a lot of work. The corbin bags follow the lines of the fender and they used the turn signals in the bags. I think they come out about as far as the gas tank area of the bike. I hate to see what they are going to want for them.

The bags are looking great :P . What are the chances of you doing a protector on the side of the bag, just in case the bike gets layed over. Something like a metal (chromed) or plastic piece in the shape of a long horizontal teardrop etc. Or is that the function of the 3 chrome bars you're thinking of adding.
Well done so far (I like the look of the proposed turn signals) :clap2:

Thanks for the compliment Runerod. To be honest, I realy hadn't thought of a protector. Afterall, I heard Rune owners NEVER lay their bikes down...

But, the chrome strips (which will be an option) could be made to provide some protection.

Speaking of options, the bags will come with a standard key lock, but for a few hundred extra (roughly) you can get the bags with a hidden lock and remote control.

I think the balance you found between the size of the bag, and keeping the lines flowing is excellent. How will you have the opening laid out?
Do you have any options we can see for the positioning of the directionals? Thanks for you efforts to get these out!

Well Rune_giant I got knocked over by a Valk Interstate  . There wasn't much damage from the lay down but I bet those bags would have got pretty scratched up if I'd had them at the time. Maybe you could offer those 3 chrome strips as some sort of 'replacable' procection for minor tip overs etc. (a bit like the mushrooms that get fitted to sportsbikes). It'll be another extra that makes your bags unique.

Thanks pool. The bags will open like nothing you've realy seen before (or at least, nothing I've seen yet) on a bike bag, but will give you pretty close to maximum access to easily get stuff in and out.

As far as the directionals, it's either going to be vertical (see the pen lines?), or horizontal like the cut out. Though we did play with it and the horizontal seems to work the best. As far as size, I might bring them down a bit (make them thin and long), since the LED strip is extemely bright.

Ouch! The strips would help somewhat, and will be an option. The nice thing is the bags, though a lot stiffer than a car bumper, will be the same material basically. Light and strong. If they get scratched, they're pretty easy to fix. The bumper on my car recently got whacked by an old lady in her SUV and left a nice scratch as well as black lines across it. After the work done, you can't tell there was any damage.
