I am new to this board, I have a 98 Valkyrie but want to add a Rune to the stable. What do I look for, which model is better, are the 05's better than the 04's, what configurations do/did they come in? What to look out for in a used Rune.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Dah,ummm ahhh! Yep. Clean up your stable first for the new member (Rune) On the funny side Black cherry is the nicest, fastest coolest in either year too! Resale is the best. Thats important as you'll see lots of them being sold right here on this board. Turns the most heads. Used in all of Honda's Advertising. Less cleaning involved. Less swirls, rubbing and polishing etc etc. Not the black but the other color is having an identity problem on what color it is.......purple/blue blue/purple burple etc etc.So stay away from that one and onto Black Primer/they just aren't sure what to paint this one so they've left the primer on for now. Clearcoated it too! What to look out for is The cops (Radar). Just go get one new or used. A minor change in 05 period. The fastest ones are the one's that were broken in properly. On the most part they are pretty much equal. Any other controversial questions can be answered by reading around,on the pages/click and read/repeat.dog

I agree.....Dog....on all of the above...I don't want to change post topic so check my thread on engine break in.....maybe you can post there.....I posted a thrread Q on 'two up' and somehow it turned into a 10 page (so far) thread on Rune MPG!!! LOL...It's ALL good tho......there's never any bad info.....How did you brake yours in Dog?

I rode it like I lived in Indianna-ha-ha-ha! I rode it hard. Beside it's not a V twin. It's more like a plane engine or car and you really can hammer them. If you baby them they tend to act up and run like poop! Mine runs wonderfully and goes like stink. I've done this to my last 15 bikes or so and will continue to break em in that way. All maintenace gets done as per schedule and the odd extra oil change too. Check air in tires religously and also keep them a couple of pounds lighter then sugjested which helps in hard braking I find. Tested and true. dog

Dog,
I agree break it in the way you want it to run during your lifetime with it.....if you want it to perform then break it in that way.......hard and fast.....I think others agree.....Did you check out that link I posted on this forum under my break in thread?....lifted it from the VTX forum (hehe)....good ideas on breaking it in either on the highway and/or the Dyno if youre lucky enough to have access to one.......
Chris
I'd prefer the highway and some twisties as the Dyno is over to quickly. Thanks I shall soon read your thread and thanks for all the agreeances. dog

Tigerpawse,
You will love the riding the Rune more than you love to ride your Valk. I know because I too have a '98 Valk, a Yellow and Cream beauty.
Good Luck, Congrats, and welcome to the board.
