Just got my Rune this week (Blue 04). I still can't get the stupid grin off my face! I need feedback on adding a second seat. I see articles about adding them and getting rid of them. Can anyone out there who has used one give me some feedback. The wife and I total 385 lbs. - a little over the maximum listed weight for this beauty.

Welcome to the board Mike
I use a Corbin Rumble seat for the wife and I
The seats interchange in about 10 seconds
The seat comes off by using the key
The lock in under the left rear fender
Don't worry about the weight issue, that has been put to bed long ago
You can adjust the rear suspension if you want a softer or harder ride
That adjuster is behind the left chrome cover near the rear wheel.
As for the grin, sorry that is something that will just not go away.

If you would like to wait 6 months and not get what you ordered get a Corbin....See "Corbin seat Part Deux" on the gen board before you buy their fugly seat. A friend had his Stock seat reworked with the V section flattened out and the driver seat filled in on the back of the saddle giving the passenger a larger seating area...It depends how tall you are?
I can give you his e-mail addy if you need it for pictures.

Although some members had problems with Corbin seats
I received mine in about a week and I like the look.
With the back closed it looks like a single seat.

I as well have Corbin seats one a two-up, both custom made, and arrived in about a week or ten days.
Congratulations on your grin.

Thanks one and all for the prompt replies; I am so glad I found this site!
Is there any preference between the dual tour style and the rumble seat based on comfort?
Has any one found passenger pegs that do not require holes in the side covers.

The dual tour style is much more comfortable for the passenger then the rumble seat
I have the Road Warrior rear pegs from Danny down in Texas

It took apx 5 mins to put them on. They bolt onto the 2 rear bolts of the swing arm cover
The wife tried them out and she liked the feel of them (she's 5'-2" sitting on a Corbin rumble seat)
I really like the way they follow the lines of the side covers when they are up
Check out this thread about them

As for the Max weight, just remember the specs for the bike was written by an attorney to keep honda from being sued. Two up on a Rune no problem, :pepper1:

I have a set of Danny's pegs for sale soon. Like you I did not want to put hole in the cover, but I just bought the Corbin bags and they come with new side covers with a hole for running boards. I just ordered the running boards Rivco ($400.) So next week if everything works out I won't be needing the Danny pegs. They look great on the bike and the wife likes them.

I'm about to get a 2-up seat. What else is available besides Corbin that is made to fit the Rune? I know a couple of custom seat makers but they would surely charge double what Corbin would charge because they would be starting from scratch.
It makes sense to me to get the 2-up seat first then the passenger pegs so you can see which pegs will be best suited for your passenger. It appears the Rivco pegs are a bit higher than the ones from the dude in Texas.
I plan to only use the 2-up seat when my woman is with me. Another benefit of getting a seat which will fit exactly on the Rune mounts.
I'm also thinking of getting a Corbin Fast Gun solo seat. Surprisingly, the density of the Corbin foam is only slightly more dense than the stock seat foam. Additionally, I like the way the Corbin seats fit in a curved fashion at the aft end of the tank. Looks more custom to me.
Does anyone have the Corbin Dual Tour seat, and if so, does it fit perfect? Does it leave any marks on the fender when removed? Do you switch back and forth between the 2-up and a solo seat?
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I have a Dual Tour and the stock saddle. I only put the dual on when I either ride 2 up, or carry my bag.
I have not seen any issues with the paint.
As like you, I am intending on getting a fast gun solo as well just because I think the corbin is more comfortable that the stock seat.

It does leave marks, get some of clear coating that they use on the front of cars. Works well. I don't change seats any more, the new one feels better!! I would suggest you come to Cobin and get it fitted for free, You will like it better

Hey Dockery, do you attach your bag to the backrest when going solo with the Corbin Dual Tour seat? If so, how sturdy is the backrest and how big is your bag?
Hey I've Been Runed, I'd love to go directly to Corbin. I think I'll order from them, try the standard version and if it isn't comfortable after a few hundred miles it will be a good excuse to take a trip to Hollister. You aren't too far away so it would definitely be a good idea for a bay area rider. What windshield do you have, how tall are you, and does it push air over your head or hit you between the eyes? By the way, you need to clean your garage
Thanks gents

Actually I have both backrests on the dual tour, and a Kuryakyn GranTour Bag. It fits perfectly between them, and lashes around the stems. It works perfectly.
Since I ride to work whenever possible, I need a place to put my computer and such. or if I go somewhere I need some space. If I just ride around, I pull the whole saddle off, and ride on the stock, but I leave the bag attached on the dual tour.
Only time I take the bag off of the dual tour is when I ride 2 up.

That sounds fine but when I travel alone I'll use the solo seat. Does anyone use the Corbin Fast Gun seat with a backrest and use a T-Bag or similar large bag? There appears to be enough seat behind the backrest to support a bag but I'm curious how sturdy the backrest is when a bag is attached.

I have the Corbin fast gun with back rest. I prefer that seat to all others because it provides lumbard support which helps me on longer trips. The back rest is designed to support the pressure of ones back so it has no problem supporting the weight of a T-bag; besides the bag rests on the rear portion of the seat so I don't think there is a lot of rearward pressure. It is also secured to the back rest. I use that T-bag almost everytime I'm on the bike and it works just fine. On overnight trips, I add a tank bag. That also works just fine. Hope this helps. :D
Well time for some wisdom,so far I've been yawning, get a second Rune!
