Honda's Vin:I assume they can do as they wish,no certain sequence necessary required by law. How many vin numbers do we have to date? I still think there is less than 2500,Max 3000! Is our vin list even close to 100 yet?? Just curious.dog

My Curious Friend Dog,

We have almost 300 Vin Numbers on the list. If we mathematically extrapolate from those Vin Numbers in the nine different Spec groups there should be about 5000 Runes manufactured. Now this does not account for any gaps in the Vin Number sequence. If there are gaps in the sequences those gaps would have to be deducted from the total count.

High Vin Number per Spec Group

“0” 2004 = 1855
“1” 2004 = 248
“3” 2004 = 560
“4” 2004 = 51
“5” 2004 = 101
“5” 2005 = 54
“6” 2004 = 413
“J” 2004 = 879
“J” 2005 = 621
“K” 2004 = 55
“K” 2005 = 39
“U” 2004 = 12

That totals 4888 Bikes, adding just a few extra figuring we do not have the highest Vin Number in each Spec Group is where I come up with the 5000 figure. Even at 5000 bikes that is a very limited production. If you look at the most recent posting of the VIN LIST, I really don’t see any huge gaps in the sequence. So there is my ever so humble analytical analysis of the situation.
