View Full Version : Rust on floor

I was working around my Rune today in the garage, and my dumb dog decided to take a whiz nearby (not on the Rune, Thank God). How many time he's done so in the past week I don't know, but as I was cleaning up his mess (it drained towards the bike and under the kickstand), I tipped the bike up and found a rust spot where the kickstand lies.
So, are most of your kickstands pretty much bare metal from scraping on asphalt, and if so what do you use to protect the bottom from rust?

You need to do something about that garage. Critters getting in and knocking kids toys over on Ruby, the dog almost peeing on her...sounds like a bad situation.
I have one of those Plastic disk kinkstand pads under my kickstands so it doesn't sit directly on the cement in the garage... hope to see you on the 6/10

I think the plastic disk mentioned by Rune005 is the best way to go. Also take it riding with you in case you park on hot black top or loose soil. Also deck paint or tile on the garage floor solves the problem. Easier to clean and helps keep the dirt out of the house.

I put the rolled garage flooring down in my other house, my new house came with the painted floor. does make it nice.

I was wondering if anyone would reconize it. Lets see if someone can identify it

Don't put the kickstand down. I have a Baxley LA Chock in my garage, I just drive onto the chock and get off. The chock holds the Rune upright perfectly. If I need to trailer, the chock bolts to the trailer bed, two straps on the rear (no straps on the front pulling the forks down) and I'm ready to roll.

Right on about the floor chock... mine is a home build. I drive in, get off bike. Bike is very secure... always upright to check fluid levels. :)

:capwin: Just like the BBQ & the patio heater, I keep half a dozen tanks around. No need to worry about levels...
use it till it goes dry and pop another one in. :capwin:
Just need to make sure not to mix MT tanks with full ones. :)
