Well good luck! :lucky:

2004 Runes without the chrome wheels seem to be going for $13,000 to $15,000 on Ebay recently, but your location may support a higher price.

Here's a link to the NADA book value:

http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-23-38-5697-0-0-0&l=1&w=23&p=38&f=5698&m=0124&d=1200016196&y=2004&ml=H&z=62526&gc=MC&gtc=MC

It includes no options and is not for the chrome wheel version.

Kelly Blue Book has it retailed at $16,965.00 and that's with 24,200 miles on it,mine only has 1600 miles!!! As far as Ebay,I could care less,I am not going to give it away, and if everybody that tries to sell one of these, especially the guys on this board that know how awesome and rare these bikes are, would keep their price up and not budge,it would be better for everybody! I was at an auto auction in Monterey where they sold an old Ferrari for 6.5 million,I wonder what it NADA/Bluebooked for!! If these bikes are as great as everybody on this board claims, and are as rare as everybody claims, why drop your pants and give it away? For every Rune that is sold too low,it drops the value of everybody's!! So if you want to de-value your Rune and everbody elses on this board, keep putting these silly NADA links up for people to read that might not know what these great bikes are worth.

Its called MARKET VALUE, and the last I checked, the market sucked. As stated before, good luck with your sale. I would love nothing better than to see it sold at your asking price. That would mean I could pick up a few grand on mine from buying it NEW.

As many here can attest, the primary culprit in the market pricing has actually been Honda itself. After selling at $27K - $30K in 04 and 05 they came back in late 07 and early 08 and sold another hundred plus (at least) new units for anywhere from $15K - $19K. I know as I bought mine new from the crate (04, chrome, rear bars) from a Honda dealer in December 07 for $17,300. Numerous people on the board paid even less, and much of what was on eBay or CycleTrader for a long time was actually postings from Honda dealers selling these late-release units. It seems to me as they have sold out the price started creeping back up... of course then the economy turned to $h!+ and now who the heck knows.

As previously noted, good luck with the sale. We are all pulling for as high a price as you can get! :)

I understand popping your bubble upsets you and I really don't want to upset you so I'm sorry for showing you reality. Really.

A sale will occur when a buyer and a seller reach an agreed upon price.

Ebay is showing you what is really happening, not what you think will happen.

If you total the bike you will receive whatever your insurance company deems fair market value. I called my agent and he verified State Farm will use the NADA value. No more, no less.

If you think the bike is worth $19000, then stick to your guns and don't sell for a penny less.

I truely hope you find a buyer at your price. I didn't mean to anger you. :mad1: Life is frustrating enough.

My Tennessee mishap, write off 22 months ago was paid off from the worse known insurance company in the World (State Farm) 39 thousand miles and non chrome version/21.500.00-I bought that bike for 16.895.00 brand new Feb/04. Second brand new Rune 16.295.00 21 months ago, again non chrome. 'If a seat can be bought for 99.00 dollars brand new and sold on ebay for twice plus, anything can happen'. Good luck on the sale! Since I still get folks telling me they've never seen a bike like this ever, you just might attract that buyer for your Rune and your price! Price is not an issue for some. The Rune is priceless/I guess till it's time to sell.:money1: Keep the Detector and throw in a free year of gas,it's probably cheaper. Think about it! dog

one thing is for sure, there are alot less of them for sale than there were 6 months agoThat is a fact... and when you find what you want... you will pay a little more than you want... because you WANT it! I paid 18K for my second one and with the condition of this bike being nearly showroom clean, I happily paid 18K for it. Stick to your guns and you will get your price. It's always a sellers market if you don't HAVE to sell it quick.

Never give in whether buying or selling (especially when it is concerning the :bow1:RUNE)

Four years ago I saw my first Rune at a local bike night. It seems that it was the first time for just about everyone there to see one also. It was candy black cherry (personally my favorite color on the rune) and had such a crowd gathered around it. It was so surrounded that one almost had to take a number or look at it in shifts.

Listening to the conversation between the proud new owner and others, the guy had traded his fully dressed HD plus 5 grand for it while he was out on a road trip. At first the salesman did not want the deal but the sales manager went for it. The gentleman had to Fed Ex all his road gear back home after making the deal. Now if a HD fanatic drops his Hog for a Rune, you know the bike is special and will have a following.

As I walked away from the bike and was heading back to my puny VTX 1300 (may its soul rest in bike heaven, totaled at less than a year old by a 17 year old that ran a stop sign and t boned me and my passenger)... back to walking back to the bike, I mentioned to my bud "that's my dream bike" and of course he said something in the lines of, well I will quote him "Keep dreaming"

Occasionally I would see ONE on a show room floor at around $24-26k. That sticker price would always keep me grounded in reality. I would, on rare occasions see some one riding one around town, keeping my dream alive. I had dropped a note of interest to one of the larger dealers here in the area and told him to give me a call when he gets some in (used or new).

Around October or November of '07 I was logged into my Ebay and for :cus: and giggles I typed in Honda Rune. I noticed that the rune was starting to make a debut on ebay. I had a good selection (but still only dreaming) to choose from on ebay. I also noticed that some of the listings were from dealers with new '04s and '05s still in the crate. They were buying up the warehouse surplus it seems. To my surprise, I noticed the name of the dealer I had visited and expressed an interst to. Well, I logged out of ebay and went about my miserable life (LOL) having to be somewhat content with having my VTX 1800 N.

Not more than 3 days later, I received a call from the salesman at the one dealer ship letting me know that he remembered me (he kept my name and number in is little black book it seemed). He told me that they had gotten some in. I made a trip over there to Shawnee Motor sports and looked and talked for a good while. They were asking 18 or 19 plus for them. Still feeling stingy and tight with my wallet and staying grounded to reality, I told him I really do love the bike and would snatch one up at around 15-16. I went home and kept my eye on ebay.

A couple weeks later on ebay, I saw a listing from the dealer “buy it now” 17,900. I also noticed a listing from they parent company for the same like bike for 15,900. I jumped on the phone and got the salesman on the line. He put me on with the sales manage (what a deeck). But I did get him down to 16.900 but still got robbed on trade in. I refused to let the VTX 1800 go for pennies. My bud had been saying how he wanted to upgrade from his VTX 1300 to an 1800. I swung a deal with him that we would trade bikes, he could just take over the payment (which was more then the dealer would have paid) and I would trade in his year old 1300.

On December 28th 2007 I rode out of the dealership on my new Rune with 0 miles on the ODO for 16,9. That was such a long frightful ride home. It was drizzling outside with a temp of about 34 degrees. Every bridge I came to, I watched the cars in front of me to look for slippage on what may have been an icy bridge. By the time I got home, I don’t know if I had more frost bite or more Rune seat stuck between my cheeks from clinching so hard as I crossed those bridges. Crappy weather for days after that, and the pretty little thing had to sit in the garage.

Long story short, stick to your guns. I did. I may have been one of the a-holes that bought one on the cheap and drove the price down, but it seems the market for them rebounded. One can’t find them new hardly any more for less than 19k again. Pay what you are willing to pay, and sell it for “no less” than you want to.

If you are selling, Ride it like it’s stolen till the new owner comes along.

There are rare occasions when I think about getting rid of it... all that needs to be done to bring oneself back to reality is to get on the pretty beast, turn the key and hit the start button. The sound, the feel, and the awe of it all snaps back into reality... KEEP IT!!!!!!
