He does use an English Wheel, among other tools. As you can tell, he's very particular and meticulous! All of the body parts are being crafted from aluminum.Ra Rune;Is your tank guy using an English Wheel (is that the correct name?) to shape the steel?
Making a tank like that is an art... Dave, isn't it great when you find someone that can do things like that?
Especially when you need it...!
The tank is being made of aluminum, there will be seams.Ra Rune; So, Is the tank being made of aluminum?
If so, will any seams be visible?
It will be painted.
These pics show the tank sides.
Here are the latest shots showing the tank and body work.
Looking forward to seeing more additions AND of course the finished project.
Doc., how long has this been in progress and when do you think it will conclude ??

Thanks, guys. I've been working on this project since 2006. It was marooned in S. Florida for a while. I had to sic my rep on 'em!!
Goal is to ride the beast this summer!! Then paint work next winter.
Yikes PIPES . . . . . . Did you see the size of those pipes . . . . .bet you'll need ear plugs and ear muff's for those!! and what about those tickets??? So much fun . . . whish I was there to hear it light up . . . . the first Honda fours we're so loud that even on super long/big road race circuts, they could be hurd shifting all the way around the track, and some of those tracks were over two miles around!! and that was just 250cc!!! awsume!!!!!!
Thanks Jack, I worked alongside a master craftsman with an awesome pipe bender, for many hours, building them. The pipes turned out to be quite complex; it's a real wrestling match to remove and reinstall them. I am anxious to hear the symphony!
Here are the latest tank pics showing the recess and filler cap install.

Dave, Iím really impressed with the fabricatorís work overall and especially the tank. Wish Iíd known about his talents when my radial engine bikeís tank was made. Suberb!!
Thanks to all who have commented.Afghanpilot;Dave, I’m really impressed with the fabricator’s work overall and especially the tank. Wish I’d known about his talents when my radial engine bike’s tank was made. Suberb!!
I just talked with my fabricator, and he shared some incredible info: The 1st builder's tank weighs 18 lbs., the new tank weighs 5 lbs., resulting in a 13 lb. reduction. The 1st builder's rear section weighs 15 lbs,. The new rear section just 2 lbs., 13 lb. lost there as well.
Total weight reduction is a whopping 26 lbs of ugly fat!!!
