2005 Rune at Auction @ BAT

2610 Views 26 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  RUNE~GEARHEAD
FWIW, Just a heads up to whomever may be looking for a Rune. I'm not the seller but saw this on the "Bring a Trailer" auction site. It's a 2005 with ~16k on the clock located in Marietta GA-- Lot#98262. The current bid is at $12750 and the auction closes in two days on Sunday 12 Feb. I couldn't believe my eyes as the camera moved around the bike and in the background, five or six more Runes appeared in the shop as well as several other bikes etc. Hope this helps, happy hunting.

My day is great and I hope yours is too. I appreciate the legal wording and links provided, but I still maintain the VIN is on the frame and is the same as the OEM VIN sticker. I guess if one is into collecting VIN stickers it would be important to have it, but I have never heard of any US DMV refusing to register any motorcycle without the VIN sticker as long as there is a VIN on frame's head stock and proper documentation. If you or anyone has empirical evidence contrary to this I would love to hear about it.
Anyone has different(non matching) or not complet numbers on their VIN sticker and the Frame stamped numbers on head stock please post a pic.
In Calif. the the Calif .Highway Patrol issues VIN numbers on all vehicles that have no numbers, after checking all documentation of ownership the new aluminium plate with stamped VIN numbers is riveted in place(head stock) in custom made or a one off MC, home made trailers and anything that needs a VIN.
I have always used the VIN stamed on the head stock when checking a motorcycels legal status.

Yes, there many ignorant people out there, but I suspect not everyone in the DMV is ignorant and you have never broke the law?.
I'm going riding now as the weather on the left coast has gotten marvelous for riding.

"@runerider1, I removed the ignorant part of my earlier post, it was taken other than the way I meant for it to be. That was a mistake on my part. I could have worded it better.

As to the VIN sticker, frame, etc... Each can do or believe what they want, in the end it doesn't change my take on it, nor do I believe it makes much difference to most folks.

Enjoy your ride, with blizzard warnings out for the next three day here, riding isn't going to happen for some time."

Is it correct that other than color of course the wheel finish and handlebar setback are the only possible OEM options ?
"California option/version Rune. Uses different ECM/PGM FI UNIT, has Canister/Emmissions equipment/parts.

How Mother Honda listed them"

• Two wheel options will be offered: chrome and Spec47 silver painted wheels.

• Two handlebar options to choose from: Rear-Set and Forward-Set. Rear-Set handlebar is 50mm closer to the rider and 20mm lower than Forward-Set. Forward-Set handlebar is 50mm farther from the rider and 20mm higher than Rear-Set.

"Spec47 or painted wheels are/were a three-step paint process."
