Hello,
Anyone had any luck with saddlebags that fit over/under the seat on the Rune? I'm looking for something that is portable and, when on the bike, it won't scuff the paint/chrome. I'm probably dreaming, but didn't want to reinvent the wheel if someone had some ideas/experience (pic's?). Thanks!

Someone manufactured custom saddlebag brackets that were attached to the underside of the rear fender. These brackets were attached to the 4 bolts (2 on each side) underneath the rear fender. Dependent on the saddle bags, they may or may not be portable.

If my memory serves me, these brackets were created by a former member who is no longer on this board. Although this solution will take some engineering, I believe it is good solution for those in need of saddlebags.

Personally, I use a sissy bar bag that attaches to the backrest of my dual seat.

Good luck

I am a new Rune owner. I considered the convenience that saddlebags would provide, but ultimately decided against cluttering up my Rune by adding them. Personally, I don't care much for the Fleetliner Saddlebags that Corbin makes for the Rune. But that's just me. Nor do I like the soft leather (under the seat) portable saddlebags (I don't care for this look on any bikes). If I had done anything, I would had probably equipped my Rune with some black hard leather saddlebags. Of course, I am very particular, and I usually prefer a simple sleek look when it comes to saddlebags. I saw a Rune in Canada that, while having been repainted silver, had some black hard leather saddlebags that I thought looked pretty good. The owner told me that they were Harley Davidson saddlebags. While I thought they looked pretty good on his bike, I wasn't as certain they would look as good on my CBC Rune. Plus, I couldn't bring myself to putting HD saddlebags on my Rune.

So, after sopping around for awhile longer, I finally decided against saddlebags.

Bobby

My 2005 came with the Corbins. I always like my Rune naked, but since they were already on the bike I thought I would try them out. They are very roomy. And to my suprise I get alot of compliments on them. The are stream lined and have a tight fit to the runes lines.
I used my Rune daily for my main transportaion so the bags work out well for me.
I just dont think Hard leather bags are going to look any better than the Corbins.
And I dont think they will hold as much either.

If you go to Erwin, you will be able to see several different types of ways to carry your personal items. I use a pillon pad with suction cups on the rear fender and tie off a soft bag to the seat back and also bungie the bag to the bottom of the rear fender. My bike has a custom paint job and suffers no ill effects. After arriving at Erwin the bag is easily removed and doubles as a suit case. Works for me. As noted, there are lots of ways to carry things and different folks have different needs.
