ANY NEWS ON THE K&N FILTERS??

5734 Views 21 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  RuneSki
I was wondering if anyone has heard any RECENT updates on the K&N filters orderd through Vitki04? I have heard nothing since the last update and have tried contacting through email but I have not received a response. I have paid for this filter but am quickly becoming nervous with the lack of return e-mail etc. Any help w/this situation is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

As of my last contact

K&N has not intention to make a filter for such a small number of vehicles, we can only hope that Honda or some other brand uses the same filter so K&N can cash in on a new market.

It doesn't hurt to send them an email once in a while asking for the product.
Ditto here. But, if you reread the string: he used an existing K&N filter. It is not a "new" size. And, yes, it is not the size of the OEM filter.
I have hit 12,200 miles, and so I' need to change the air filter. It would be a nice th ing to get it sooooon.
I am just not comfortable knowing that vitki04 has charged my credit card $365.00 a month ago and now he will not respond to my emails. Did the other guys who made the initial list to purchase these air filters also pay in advance and have they heard anything as to the status?
Danny is a stand up guy, nothing to worry about.

Yes I was charged as well and he did respond to an eMail of mine wherein he said he was having difficulty obtaining the filters from his original supplier..
I SAW A SIMILAR EMAIL BUT THAT WAS SEVERAL WEEKS AGO. I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING SINCE, MAYBE HE'S ON VACATION ETC BUT I HOPE TO HEAR SOMETHING SOON GIVING THE STATUS OF THESE THINGS, OR A REFUND FOR OUR PURCHASE...
WILL DO. THANKS FOR THE EMAIL AND INFO...
200 Tire

Esteemed RedValk: Nope. I havent changed it yet. I took a close look and, well, as soon as either the air box mod DOES come in, or another 1000 miles; then I will try to mount the Dunlop D220 200 size tire.
If it wasnt for that hurricane, I would have put another 100 miles (job commute) on it today.. just too much rain. Ken (12,200 miles)
They are on the way!

Just received the following:

Hi Chuck,
just got back from homecoming in Ohio and getting ready to ship today and
tomorrow.

Hi Guys ,
I'm back from Home coming , that was a hell of a trip.
About the K&N air filters adapters , got everything and will ship Today and Tomorrow,.
If you are impatient ask runeski how the bike sounds with the system installed, he liked it.
danny
Dan,
It did sound more throaty, almost like it had glass packs. How much does it help in keeping the residue off the chrome ??
Good Luck, Nice meeting you :D

JUST FOUND OUT THE AIR FILTERS ARE BEING SHIPPED AS WE SPEAK, SORRY ABOUT THE OBVIOUSLY UNNECCESSARY CONCERN...DOES THE NEW FILTER REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE SOUND? I'M PRETTY FIRED UP IF THIS IS TRUE, I WANT A DEEPER-THROATIER SOUND IF POSSIBLE...

you guys give us reports on sound and performance when you get them. i'm always VERY funny about doing any mods
to an engine on a
of mine...no matter how minor. i waited over a year to add a trigger wheel to my Valk after they came out. Wanted to make sure....ABSOLUTELY sure, there would be no problems with the device.

it's not about the
to me...though i will have to probably buy two of them

So let us know if it really has more sound....has no problems running in the rain.....wasn't that bad to install
...less soot on exhaust, etc.

if i hear good reports...after several months...i'll probalby buy one then. I'm just cautious about stuff like this....

RedValk,
You are a conservative engineer. As for me..... I am not chicken. I was a professional musician before getting my engineering education. We will be happy to give reports on what happens after ripping the throat out of our Runes and slapping in a new air-diaper down their throats!

Oh, I could finally really read your post! Please keep those icons coming! My vocabulary is limited, but I like pictures.

yea....i thought maybe some would like some of those. eventually we may add some more emoticons.....

Yep, i'm pretty conservative......card carrying Republican. Oh wait, you were talking about my engineering practices. I'm pretty conservative there too  I'm just always leery. I've seen on some other boards....where guys did some seemingly pretty 'inocent' mods...and later, it came back to bite them.

Case in point. I just saw a post on the VRCC board yesterday....where some guy was asking about doing the 'flame thrower' mod to his Valk. For those who don't know, that was a pretty popular mod some years back on the Valks and on the VRCC board. you added this device that basically made one cylinder on each side NOT fire (when you flipped the switch on)...and unburned gas left the cylinder ....went into the exhaust....and then the device fed spark to another
that you mounted in the tail end of your exhaust on each side. You had to drill a hole in the top of your exhaust tip to mount the plug. bottom line, when you flipped the switch, unburned gas was ignited by the plug in the tip of the exhaust.....and flames would shoot out the back of your exhaust. This was especially impressive at night :!:

Now it turns out that those who did that mod, most had problems later on ....major problems with their engines on the cylinder the raw gas was going thru. turns out it wasn't too good for the engine :!: Most who did it, now say they wouldn't advise it. I certainly wouldn't have been concerned about doing it several years ago. Now i wouldn't think of it.

that's the kind of stuff that makes me wait ....and see.....before i 'leap'. i'd rather be conservative....then be
.

I'll get one eventually...one of these days....MUCH later....if no one has problems for half a year or so

For all of you who purchase a K&N air filter adapter, the installation guide is in the tech section of this board.

Thanks again for your support.
Got mine today, and since it is a rainy day, i went ahead and got it installed. I found the instructions posted AFTER i got it installed. The only thing i did slightly different, is i just pivoted the tank up, i did not remove it. Used a bungee cord fastened to the seat latch to hold it up. Is sounds good, but since it is raining, i won't take it for a ride.

Yes, it does give the exhaust a deeper more throaty sound. I heard it at the Homecoming. I'm not sure if it keeps the exhaust residue off the chrome, lets ask Dan. Dan?
Rich K ( Rune Ski )
Hi guys,
as far as the residue, I clean the exhaust only a couple of times a month, where it use to be twice a week and it was dark, now it is just a little bit.
BUT the blueing of the chrome is still there on the chrome tips and the swing arm cover,
Danny
