I put the DRAGNN in another show Saturday, Got best in metric custom class and Best In Show! :D
The Best In Show was even that much sweeter because the show was dominated by v-twin choppers! :D
One of the chopper guys got irriatated I guess, he came up to me after the awards and said " Yeah it looks cool but can it run?" I said "There's only one way to find out, follow me out in the country." He followed me and I stopped at one of my favorite smokin spots, I smoked him!

Best of Show

The real envy some of the chopper folks show is that they can only ride them for 10 miles and have to put them away for safe keeping. There is nothing like having the most awesome piece of motorized art on the planet (for now) and being able to ride it like the cruising work horse it is. I actually had a fella ask if I had a trailer nearby during one of my rides...he couldn't believe a person would ride and risk damage to such a one of a kind custom..... I told him I am but one of 3000 believers :D and that altho there are a few that put them in mothballs, most are running multiple sets of (front) tires off them each year - ha. After I started it up and racked the pipes a bit for him (I could see the whites of his eyes all the way around his pupil  ), I suspect he stopped by the nearest Honda shop and laid down the $ for his newfound dream bike. HogSlayer's race man probably exited the raceway a soon as he saw those LED tail lights staring him in the face... a hog running away with his tail between his legs... 8)

Proud of you man, good show :!: :!: :)

I have found most people have never seen or heard of the Rune and are very impressed by it.
I think if Honda did more creative advertising for the Rune there wouldn't be any sitting in the show rooms now.
I have had several people ask me how to get one and some seemed like die hard Harley riders too.
It is a awesome machine and I'm glad I have mine.

Best in Show!

Great job!! You make us all proud. Next time you decide to smoke a hog, pass it around! There's nothing better than good down-home bbq. I bet that little piggy squealed all the way home!

that's awesome dude, i like beating the harley dudes, because then they get all bent and have to go back to dealer and say " i need more power in my engine, can i spend $4,000.00 for more power, so i can at least read that rune guy's lic plate!! :p
Rune at Harley Ride

Recently got to participate in a local ride sponsored by the new Harley-Davidson dealer in town. Just pulled up with wife on her VTX 1300 and we had the entire parking lot come over...to including the Harley mechs..we all have a good laugh as they squated down to take a better look. An hour later as we are ready to head out, the mech's again came out to see us leave with the ride. And later I showed several hard-core bikers what the back lights look like.
What can we say, " I love this bike"

Teach old dogs what a new trick is....

Ever ridden a Bourget Python Chopper? One of the best rides I have had in a long time, rides as good if not better than my boss. I know what you mean by having the most awesome piece of art on the planet with the power to smoke almost anyone at will.

Part of the fun riding my boss is going to harley, look for the most tricked out custom there and part next to and and watch the crowd move over to see what I just rode in. Also fun to go into parking garages and set off car alarms.

Bourget Python Chopper

Ahhhhh yes....I have seen it ....and (from my perspective) it is... as I said... a beautiful SHORT distance bike. ...like most choppers...not all ...but most (again ...from my perspective). I go to the cycle rally's and I find a place out back to park so I don't appear to be showing my bike off  ...all the while knowing that in a short time... it will... and does draw the crowd. I try to withhold my braggadotio altho it is sometimes tough... because just like being the toughest guy on the block...it only lasts till someone tougher comes by  ... My bike is not the fastest...hell some some small crotch rockets can blow it away.... but it is in my eyes the classiest.... oh and there is enough power to sneak by the old pickup trucks on the road. :D

Yes, the short distance from phoenix to sturgis and back. I know guys who ride these, they don't just hop to the store and back.

From your response I take it your answer is no, so you are just going by perception, that's ok.

The latter bike I was talking about was mine, not the chopper, though I am getting a bourget chopper next spring. It's not about who is the toughest on the block, it's about perceptions, how one thinks something is until they try it and find out what they thought was wrong. That is what happened to me when I first rode one of these. I am already the "toughest" on the block, though not necessarily in my "group", I straddle a chevy small block 350, cammed, on two wheels, so I don't need to make a statement with a chopper. I like the way it looks and the way it rides.

Want to sell my Boss and try a GW. Sound's weird but I'm not much into the attention the boss gets, though I do flaunt it once in a while. I want to just get on and ride, if I have to stop I want it to be short, am tired of answering all the questions it brings up. The GW will be for my wife, the chopper for me. "Her" bike will be the one we ride together on longer distances.

BORGET Chopper

Hi Mike,

I had a real good friend that had a Borget. He rode it < 2000 miles. It was a lease bike. It was in the shop over 10 times in less than 1 year for oil leaks, screws falling out, Bolts stripping out, licenses plate brackett fell off.... Honestly, he could not ride it for more than 45 mins. to an hr before he had to work on it or send it back to the shop. It made my friend sick to have to give it back. He lost a ton of $$ in that deal.

If I were you I would do my homework and see how happy or how long the guys that have them keep em. Whats the resale on em

Just about the only thing you have to do to the Rune is keep it serviced and keep a good set of tires on it.

Just my thoughts.

I'm a bit behind on postings although I saw your pics of the exhaust hole (good shots - makes it easier to target the spot ~ thx) ... :D

But when I looked for your other pics ~ DRAGNN specifically I didn't see it. Have you got some shots of it posted anywhere?

I'd like to see the winning bike :biker:

Congrats! belated as it may be ...

And as for Bourgets ... I rode 1 in Dec '03 ... found it to be a beautiful looking bike but as far as handling my old Wing, heck my old '69 350 Honda was better at twisties.

Just glad not everyone wants a Rune ~ I'd never be able to afford one then

........speaking of bikes that don't run

I can't comment on Bourget bikes, but here is a shot of my former chopper built by American Ironhorse. It never ran more than 200 miles without needing a repair of some type. I'll spare you the details, but my general impression is that these bikes are inadequate for touring of any kind. I became afraid to ride mine for fear it was going to leave me on the side of the road. That's about the same time it became my former bike. Hey, look at the lighter side; if it hadn't been a piece-"O"-poop I wouldn't have had a reason to buy a Rune!

a reason to buy a Rune

Firefit5

Good reason! :D

I first used my brother-in-law's pending brain surgery ~ then I also added in the huge price drop. In the end I bargained in a new hardwood floor.

:biker:

Brother-in-law all better now (out of the hospital in less than 40 hours ~ and after removing a "golf-ball sized growth!!).
:clap2:

But the hardwood floor's a lot trickier to get done ... "it ain't like brain surgery". :eek:4:

any reason be fine enough to Rune things.

N.H. Bill, if go up to Photo Post and choose Member Galleries and then search on HOGSLAYER1 you can see all the pics I have posted. Here's a couple of the DRAGNN

See less See more
Well Sh*t! That didn't work, is it because it's in a member gallery?
Just go thru the photopost if ya want to see the dragnn.
Hog....

TWO THINGS:

one, i edited your post....and when i edited it, i went to your photo gallery...right clicked on the photo you wanted to post...copied the properties/URL...then put that URL in your post. That URL was different than the URL you used. the one you used....when i copied it into my web browser...came up with a LARGER version of the same photo. So...maybe this has something to do with a size 'thing'? So...the Engineer in me thinks the reason my way worked....and yours didn't ...was that i took the URL of the THUMBNAIL photo in your gallery....while you clicked on the THUMBNAIL...then copied the URL of the 'enlarged' photo...and tried to post it. Whew...that was alot to say!

Of course, alternatively. I went to Photo Post (above)...then clicked on Member galleries....then typed in Hogslayer1 in the search window...and all your photos came up.....
2
just a test....

lets see if i REALLY have this figured out. here is the image when i click on your thumbnail photo in your gallery....and ...THEN I ATTEMPT TO COPY THE URL LISTED IN THE WINDOW OF MY BROWSER AND PASTE IT HERE...

Now....here is the CORRECT way....which is to click on your thumbnail photo in your gallery....and....THEN RIGHT CLICK ON THAT LARGER IMAGE....HIT PROPERTIES...AND COPY THAT URL...which is the CORRECT URL to post here...

note that this second way worked....but the first one didn't.

YOU OTHER GUYS MIGHT TAKE NOTE...i've seen several others make that same mistake.........now i've figured it out.
