Bleeding Brakes

So last eve we finished up the project of swapping out 'A' bars for 'B' bars.. all went very smooth cept for the Bleeding Brakes part. spent way to long bleeding the system and still am not satisfied that we have all the air out of the system cause front brakes do not have identical "feel" as they did before... brake lever compresses further than before and total stopping power seems diminished. Will try another round of "bleeding" this eve, just thought I'd post to see if anybody's got an idea. The rear brake came up just great... no problem at all.

lovin the B bars... finally i can get upright and be comfortable... too old and too short for that stretched out forward stuff. this eve will also be adding the brakeaway throttle lock... last eve installed new arlan ness mirrors i picked up at the Laughlin show in April.... they are a delight!.. couldn't see past my shoulders with the stock mirrors... most of you will not have this problem less you are a 'wide body' design like me! LOL

can't say i didn't warn ya' about that brake bleeding. Most i've talked to say it's a real pain. Even dealer says it is a real pain....just like the VTX.

Sitedata took his to a bike shop and they didn't do it right! Came out like 'mush'.

Hopefully you'll get it with some repeated tries? Maybe somebody has some technical advice. I know when i heard about the difficulties, i just said the heck with it and took it to the dealer
I had the same problem when I bled my brakes. Here is a tip that I feel will help. Squeeze your brake lever as close to the handgrip as you can. Tie it off with either a piece of string or a strong rubber band. Leave the lever compressed overnight. Remove the string or rubber band the next day.. This should work out any air in the system. Don't ask me how or why, but it works. Give it a try. Good luck.
Bleeding

Part of the problem was that the bleeding cup purchased... did NOT have a seal, so when used with the MightyVac, wasn't workin' worth a darn. Got some silicone curing to seal the cup's lid to the cup... the Mighty Vac SHOULD get the job done this time.

The other day, we were having to bleed conventionally, and using the MightyVac without a bleeder cup... emptying the tube (before it reached the tool), resuming. Not too efficient. :x

What's frustrating about the Rune bleeding chore is that they're NOT "consistent" with the nipple size on the calipers. The rear caliper bleeder screw uses an 8mm wrench, the front calipers? One uses the 8mm wrench to bleed the rear actuated piston... the other one uses a 10mm wrench to bleed the rear actuated piston. Correspondingly, the FRONT actuated (front) caliper bleeders use an 8mm on one side and the 10mm on the other side. C'mon Honda.... if you're gonna use two different parts, make ALL the rear actuated bleeder ONE size and the front actuated bleeders the OTHER size !! It WOULD lessen the chance of bleeding the wrong nipple than what you intended to.

Yes... you will ! I'll be with the guy ridin' that Black Cherry Rune (I think, unless he chickens out) Hopefully the next round of brake bleeding with be the last for the ol' Cyclops steed.

REDVALK:

In your post, see above, you make it clear Ms. Sherry a/k/a “Butterfly” will be riding a Black Cherry Rune, while you will be aboard a Black one.

I’m confused and somewhat taken aback. I’m wondering why it is you feel the need to differentiate so that people can distinguish between you and your nice lady. Could it be you intend to go in drag?
ROTFLMAO !!!
