So, maybe this is a stupid, non-techie sort of worry, but my manual says not to load the Rune with more than 275 pounds. With me at 160, the SO at 110 and the Corbin seat coming in at least 10 pounds of stock, that already puts us over before even thinking about adding luggage or even a windscreen.

Are other people out there taking the 275 number seriously or just not worrying about it?

Thanks

Steve

I weight about 285 and have no problems. The bike did bottom out till I adjusted the rear suspension to a quarter turn out from the hardest setting. I will keep on trying different settings but firming it up helps the ride heaps.

125 kg

Hi,
j installed a dual seat. on the shaft cover there is a label with tires pressure and maximum load = 125 kg.
j installed also a GIVI box 52 liters.
http://www.croceemilio.com/filmatirune.htm

my weight is 95 kg, my wife 54 kg, the box full of dresses around 15 kg
total 164 kg = around 364 pounds.

we mouved to Vienna for the Walkiria treffen. the bike worked properly without any problem either on the highway or in Vienna city tours.

the only problem j could be afraid are the sfericals cushions supports of the shaft/rear wheel. the extra load could damage them.

J am quite sure they are the same as goldwing so their load capacity must be proper.
the dual seat and box are posed on the inferior fender supports without drilling but with rubber inserts amd looked at the original seat support.
anyway j will not exceed the up loads transporting an heavvier passenger
For the future j programmed to buy a goldwing for my long distance rides
the rune is a bike for enjoying alone.

ciao Hannibal

Hey, what's the story with the Givi E52 case? I had that same case on the back of my Valkyrie when Givi still made the rack. They stopped making the rack for the Valkyrie a couple of years ago.

I assume that is a custom mount you or someone else made? I also assume that is the standard Givi aluminum mounting plate you are using with just the supports being custom?

Hi Runespyder,

yes it is a custom installation. j mounted the plastic base (not found the aluminium base) on a support connected to the dual seat.
j had been obliged to install a support pressing on the rear fender (without drilling)
let me have your email address and j send the pictures of the installation.
ciao

Rune Riding 2 up

Hey,Steve
I have ridden approx. 400miles with my S.O. and the rune handled it better than my Aero 1100 in both the handling and suspension departments. I did crank up the rear shock by 3/4 of a turn from factory and it is still compliant enoughfor solo riding I myself am 6'2" 230lbs. and she is 5'11" and 130 lbs . $#^%[email protected]^&%@ sorry bout that, was ducking an incoming blow for being a loudmouth. Any way the bike has yet to bottom out, even with most of those miles being on new englands secondary frost heaved and poorly seamed roads.
Good luck & good riding

It'll carry 425 and still perform well... it just handles a little different. I go 275 my pillions are around 150. With gear we are all about 450 lbs and I have ridden hundreds of miles that way. Twisties at the Erwin Rally last year and slabbing it to Daytona in 2008 and will again this year. It's all good.

Skibum rides with his woman on the back... she goes about 200 to 225lbs, they don't seem to have issues. Well they might have issues but not riding issues:duck:

You must have us confused, she's the one with the bigger boobies
Next time you're at the house you better sleep with one eye open. Have you ever heard of Lauraine Bobbitt?

Never had problems, I weigh 147 and Joan 184.
Plus the saddlebags are usually filled up with oil quarts to rescue Harleys.

Okay 2 things to which I must respond:

First - Connie DOES NOT weigh that much! Not even with the great boobs she has! It's alll the crap she carries to keep John happy and things running; batteries, cigarettes, MP3's, cameras, video equipment. The poor woman is a pack horse for John!

Second - Joan Malone does not weigh 184 pounds any more than Pierre weighs 147!

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves!
