Just go to this link, the first ride is mine with the K&N air filter adapter and no exhaust mod,the second is the one I gutted the inside of the exhaust.

works fine for me. takes 20 seconds or so to download.
exhaust

sounds great....any dyno numbers to go with the modification?

Exhaust mod

What exactly did you do. I'm interested in dyno readings. Seems like reducing exhaust backpressure could greatly reduce high end output . . . or so I have read.
sound is not allways better

I know when I installed drag pipes on my gl1800 (2001) I lost 9 mph on the top in and my gas mileage went from 38 mpg to 31 mpg .
I think it is because I rode the bike harder when the pipes were loader, and I thought the bike responded better and seem quicker off the line,I was soon brought to reality when I race my brother on his gl 1800, witch I out ran all of the time. the light turn green and he smoked me not once but four times,so I removed those pipes and put the factory pipes back on .Now I am back on top.still have those pipes if any body want a pair for there gl 1800 let me know.and I was told when I bought those pipes that they increase h.p by 5% and gave you better gas mileage. When I called the manufacture they told me that everybody's bike was different and that will give a different result
Hi guys,
to tell you the true ,the only thing that was done was to open the cans and take everything out of it and then reweld the cans shut. As far as dyno , the owner and myself have not notice any difference in the way the performance goes. From my point of view this is a non HP modification but only louder.

Decisions ! Decisions !!

still - a DYNO test would help making a decision!

Tom:
I installed a pair of "Alley Cats" on my Gl1800. The vendor told me not to expect any change in performance, just louder sound. My top speed is still 135 from the speedometer (everyone knows that the speedo reads high on the GW) and 126 GPS. Gas mileage is still about 40 - 42 mpg. While the sound is awesome, the mufflers are made of stainless steel (not chromed) and there is an appearance difference that I don't like.
torq monsters daytona

I wish I could say the same, when I first installed them we went to the keys it was almost 600 miles, my brother who also has a gl1800 went with us .We both got about 220 miles before needing gas. we stayed about the same thru the trip ,but during the next two weeks I notice I was only getting about 150 to 165 out of a tank of gas ,so I ask my brother if he wanted them for his bike he told me sure .well about two months he had them on his bike and he remove them for the stock muffler .I do say they sounded great but it was not worth the sacrifice .The guy at the Honda service told me that Honda uses an altitude meter to adjust the air fuel mixture on the gl1800 so that the bike will run the same if it is in the mountains or the keys it should get the same fuel mileage ,he said maybe those pipes are changing something any way i have a set of 490.dollar torq monsters just sitting here
Get'em while they last!

Tom, you sure are One-Hell-Of-A persuasive salesmen.
telling it like it is

Just telling the story about my bad experience with those pipes. And if you think that I am trying to sell them, well Chuck you don't know me as well as you think you do. I would not sell these pipes, because I know I would just make some one else unhappy when they mounted them.
