When I purchased my Rune, the dealer through in a dual seat ($1000) w/riders pegs. I manual clearly says the bike is designed for one rider. no passenders.

Who has info about this accessory?

Re: dual seat

I had a somewhat similar concern, so I posted the "carrying capacity" question to this board. You can check out the answers yourself, but consensus seems to be that you should adjust the suspension if you are carrying a passenger, but otherwise you should be fine

Steve
I weigh 180 and Ihave had 3 different passengers, one weighed 160. No problems with the suspension set to stock. If you ever get the side panel off, like for replacing the rear wheel, it wont hurt to get a screwdriver and turn the screw a couple clicks clockwise.
ride two up no probs.after 800 miles with 450lbs in rider weight the rune just keeps on ticking..........no handling probs.no unusal tire probs. no probs. at all we,my wife and i ride every sunny week end some where.
j am riding my rune normally with my wife. in highway no problem in following at any speed a GW. in germany there are no speed limits and j tested the rune for one hour in two at 200 km
in the mountains j may go better in two than a gw with the single rider.

this year j had less km with the tires as j rided more with my wife.

anyway breaking is really better without the passenger.
and the rune is a bike for enjoying only alone. wawwwwwwwwwwwww

They call motorcycles "freedon machines". What kind of freedom do you have with your wife sitting on the seat behind you? Don't ruin a good thing by getting a dual seat.

had to find a solution for having a one seater bike and still please my wife....I convinced her to add a Porsche cab to my toys collection....
Jacques:

Now that's the correct solution.
The bike definately handles better single. You can feel the diff in stopping and low speed turning with 2 up. Glad I own another bike as that is the one I will mostly go 2 up. This Rune rides much better with single.:

Maybe you guys can help me solve this. Everytime I accelerate when riding two up I hear this wack, wack, noise on my helmet and when I slow down there's this thonk, thonk, thonk noise. When I get off the bike I see all these dings and scratches on the back of my helmet. What's up???

It seems that you have the dreaded "new wife on the back" syndrome.
This infection commonly occurs with new motorcycles. It goes away the more miles you get on her (both the wife and motorcycle)
I had this dilemma with other types of motorcycles (Ninja, Wing, Z1) but not on my RUNE. The bike is so stable she just leans back and blends in. I wouldn't even know she was back there if it wasn't for the neck rubs.
I do have to admit I receive the occasional leg squeeze when a peg or two scrapes its mark in the road.
She's been back there for over 30 years and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
ha ha there is no way i would ride alone, maybe ya need rider lesons to be able to handle the rune 2 up ,,,,,maybe that might help......just kidding to each his own
My wife loves me enough to buy me a Wing to enjoy the 2-up times. I enjoy the pease and solitude on the Rune and Valk by my lonesome. Or did she let me buy the Wing for her sole enjoyment   :?: :?:
I really don't care.

I do have a Corbin 2- up seat for the Rune that has been used only a few times
oh my god !! just read one of my post,if wife sees 400lb rider she will have my hide..... i must post 400lbs combined weight and i must post i am 275lbs of that now u can do the math and i am still living :D

Excellent point re the personal constraints of riding two-up with the wife on a Rune. Long term involvement in such activity can lead to depression.

Having said that, two-up riding with hookers, strippers, and girlfriends does not seem to cause ANY depression in married men...

...just kidding, Bonnie
RIDING TWO UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have made a few comments about the subjects, and some made by
others here are sort of funny, especially T-Tip(450#) and Linda lets you live?? My wife Linda doesn't like, ride or have anything to do with Motorcycles. She knew how I felt about two wheels when we met over 25 years ago, and I wasn't about to change and she wasn't either. I have been riding SOLO ever sence. Everytime I trailer to the mountains I invite her along( as she loves the views, and to shop) but most of the time I go alone. It solves all the problems. A lot of people don't understand how she allows me to do this, but they don't understand I don't require or ask her permission to do anything. We have a very good relationship that allows us our freedom in our marriage.
Rodger......... everyones relationship is different.........my wifes loves to passenger ..... cares nothing about learning to ride........and will not go to any events.......i hope everyone has a relationship with their wife like we both have.........they would be happier people........

but all jokes aside........it makes no difference to me wheather a RUNE
is ridden 1 up or 2 it is still a RUNE........
for myself..... i have had ......and hope to continue to have no problems........ what so ever 2 upping on the RUNE........

Right on Tip. I would like to add that we bought the Rune to make our lives more enjoyable. It makes sense to me that if one puts a passenger on the back and that heightens the enjoyment; more power to him. :D
After consulting the experienced folks on this board some time back, I ordered a 2-up seat and passenger boards for my Rune. I have 4 different passengers with weights ranging from 135-170. Weighing in at around 275 myself, I say yes, you can tell the difference in the way the bike handles and stops , but the bike handles it well, and my wife and kids share the grin this machine plants on you face! :D
