Hi technical specialist !

Still trying to be creative about limit to 73KW the Rune engine out put, I was wondering if anybody could tell me if it's possible to install a GW1800 ECM on a Rune, and still being able to manage possible ignition/start keys Rune features ?

Why the question ? Because Honda France is delivering French Goldwing with specific ECM limiting the engine at 73 KW !
Any ideas are more than welcome to nail down this critical homologation issue.
Many THX

I don't think you want to do that. The ECM in the Goldwing probably only has to worry about 2 throttle bodies, not 6 like the Rune...

The ECM in the Rune has a special function as related to the Rune's wireless key fob. The serial number is coded into the key fob, and if the ECM and the key fob don't match information, the ECM shuts down even if the cut of the key is the same.

The ECM in the Rune has a special function called HISS (Honda Integrated Security System). If the ECM is tampered with (or swapped out) where the VIN information is not the same (factory programming), the HISS will disable the engine.

Okay, I'm done now... two weeks on this bike and I'm telling vetrans about the features of the bike.

David,
Thx for answering. We did figured this out few months ago.
Maybe you have skills to help me out down grading the bike from 118HP to 106HP ?
Would be great with just 2 weeks ownership ! that would really surprise all the board!!!
BTW, I have now the bike since 2 weeks.................;

Maybe you could have posted that you had figured out the issue, updated everyone else out here??? It took me two weeks with the bike to know the answer to your question, and I was happy to share. You don't like to share, just post questions?

What I'm not used to is the pace, or lack of, of the posts on this board. I now notice you posted your question in March and no one posted a reply until my comment in July.
