How many bikes have you owned prior to your Rune?

I was always curious how many bikes everyone has owned before purchasing their Rune? It seems most people would progressively move from a small beginner bike upwards until they eventually bought a Rune. Maybe some of us really had no experience with a bigger bike and just took the plunge and got one and learned on the fly. It seems that quite a few of you owned Wings or Valks before. I've always felt a bit strange having only owned a Honda CBR 600 (which I split my riding time with the Rune) and then the Rune :D
I'd never had any experience on/with any crusier before I bought my Rune and drove it 1000 miles :biker: the first day I owned it. I'm happy to report that I don't have a single regret about anything at all on my purchase and continuing experience and I absolutely love my Rune. I have a feeling most of you have owned many different bikes over the years and I was interested in the numbers of bikes and maybe experiences with different brands.

I put Three starting with my ACE750 I bought in 2000 moved up to a VTX1300 Then the Rune!
I had about seven different motorcycles in and after high school sold my last one in 84 got into muscle cars now all the cars are gone and I'm riding again!
The Rune is the best motorcycle I have ever owned or ridden to date.

This is my first bike ever! I have never even ridden a bike before I got my Rune. All My friends told me to get what I wanted, because I would get sick of it real quick if I didnt. So I Just Went BIG. Now I sitting here in Iraq, reading about you guys riding your Runes and all I can do is dream and wait for my 30 day vacation this summer.

Gezz hannibal...... you sound like a bit of a bike whore. When one's not enough fun for you, she get's drop off at the next show :D :D :D Just kidding. Sounds like you had lots of fun and I couldn't agree with you more about your attitude about never getting rid of the Rune. I think about mine so much I feel like I'm cheating on my woman

As for you H3, congratulations!!!!!!!! You appear to be the youngest and newest rider to a crusier.
You better get your ass back here to ride it!!!! Stay safe and never let your guard down over there! To many people lost over this situation already. Don't become one

bikes

Hi Diver Dave,
j forgot one.

j purchased all the pieces and j built one bike by myself (17 years old).
j should be a good bike mechanic. j only have no enought experience in electronic equipments.
That is important for to know if your dealer is telling you the truth or not
concerning the number of bikes j got, first was as growing in age j needed more power secondly old bikes where no much trustable after a few years.
only guzzi lemans II was a modern bike with good sincronized brakes.
j still have this bike. But the Rune.... whawwwwwwwwwww that is a bike
Ja j have many km under my seat with different bikes. no accidents :p
j hope to continue in this line.

ciaooooo

I have told folks I had a James Motorcycle in 1950 and no one has ever heard of it. My left hand was so strong I could make old guys (21) go to their knees because of the clutch.

My Rune is my ninth motorcycle and my Maui ride, other bikes were:
1st 1967 Triumph Bonneville TT Special (spent a lot of time working on electrical problems, lucas electrics nuff said)
2nd 1972 H2 750 Kawasaki (wheelie king)
3rd 1973 500 Yankee Z (best handling bike I ever ridden, had to mix your own gas & oil)
4th 1974 Honda 90 (bought for my 1st wife so she stop nagging about all my ridding, rapped bailing twine around the back wheel & rode it to work when it snowed, oh to be young & crazy)
5th 1973 Yamaha RD 350 (what a screamer)
6th 1972 750 Triumph Trident (sounded great but ate two center pistons)
7th 1986 700 Suzuki Intruder (like the Rune love at first sight, own it 13 years before I gave it to my son who rode it another 4 years at college)
8th 1998 Honda VRF 800 (great all around bike, currently ridden to work on the Big Island, on my third regulate/rectifier)

Im surprised that this one didnt get more hits.
Ive added and removed many bikes from my stable since starting my love affair w/ my rune.
1 750cc Shadow Spirit
2 250cc MZ
1 500cc 1957 G80 Matchless
4 250cc 1957 G3L Matchless
1 500cc 2002 Bullet 500 Royal Enfield
I tried to ship the Enfield home when I left Iraq, but I ran into some issues w/ the military inspectors and left her (in many, many pieces) w/ my buddy jason. He got one hell of a Christmass present 3 matchless and the enfield.
That leaves me w/ the Shadow and the Rune (the shadow never sees the outside of the garage) and I believe the shadow is on its way out as well.

how do you post a pic, my enfield was awesome! [/img]

I started in 1956 with a Whizzer motorbike. It was a 26" model. Sold it and got a 24" model because it was more motorcycle looking. It had the 5 hp high compression head!

See, even then things were changed on scoots.

H3Marine.....Congratulations and there are several of us old Marines on this board. Stay off the sky line and come back safe and enjoy your Rune. The Rune is a very big bike for a first time ride but for a person who is fit and cautious; it can be just fine. Consider a safe riding course, but do the course with a smaller bike until you get the feel of what's going on. For me, the biggest surprise was just how great this bike is and how heavy it is if you let it lean past it's balance point-usually at very slow speeds. I have no doubt you will figure it out-just take your time and you have noithing to prove-you are doing that now. Semper Fi
