I listened to a GL1800 Gold Wing today with an Alley Cat muffler system. What a cool sound! It was a deep throaty mellow sound, just what I would like for my Rune.

I found a web site where you can listen and view this system at http://www.mblinnovations.com/goldwing_ ... ffler.html.

We need to encourage this manufacturer to produce one for the Rune.

Did you hear it in person. I listened to the video before and after (by immediatley comparing the two sounds together) the muffler was changed and it did not seem like there were any differences in the tones. Are you saying that its just differen to the the wing and that the wing sounds better. I listened to the one (Rune) that had been done by one of the forum guys and it seemed quite a bit different to the stock exhaust on the Rune. It seems so hard to listen to it over the speakers. I am still apprehensive without hearing it in person.

we put these pipes on the 2001 wing,it sounded great very deep sound. But the fuel mileage went to hell in a hand basket.Went from 215 225 to a tank to 160 175 to a tank, but still had the same power. The Honda dealer said that the fuel mapping system might be screwed up because the fuel system is check by the the altitude and makes adjustments as needed. So we put the stock pipes back on an the mileage came right back.

I listened to the Alley Kats on the Wing in person at Americade this past week.

I then purchased and had them installed on my Wing. I rode the bike about 1200 miles back home. I did not note in change in fuel consumption as compared to before. I did not check the mileage before and later except that the Wing traveling with me was adding about the same amount of fuel at each stop both going up and returning. I have not noticed any change in power nor did I expect any change.

My evaluation of the produced sounds are that they are really nice at idle and while playing with the throttle in neutral. While moving all three of my traveling bike buddies said that they could not hear any differences unless they were immediately behind or next to me and they all liked what they heard. But for me, at 50 to 90 MPH, the generated loud low frequency sound was to much for a long trip. I will probably reinstall my stocks before my next rode trip. The supplied warranty excludes any guarantee "to produce or cancel any particular tone, note or resonance, as sound preference is purely subjective".

As the warranty implies, sound preferences are a personal issue and are subject to our personal evaluations. For me this could be an expensive lesson.
