Hey Tom, I think your on to something, I would like to know when you say there are different versions of the cover do you mean as far as lettering or if we want a smooth look with or with out the grooves or lettering is that possible, & it looks like to me that the bottom to holes is where the peg bracket will mount is that correct?thanks for the hard work & as I said in my first email sometime back you already have my order put me on the list & thanks again can't wait to here your response.
Yes, this is the basic prototype. You can have it like it is with raised grooves or flat with a ball mill design. You can have the grooves going all the way across with no design. I personally like the design in the middle to say "The ultimate hog slayer"! The footpegs will mount on the bottom and we will try to have them done this weekend. Once that is completed we will post the new picture. The highway pegs will match our grip ends and and tag bolts. Price is still pending because of chrome charge. Estimated cost is about $1000. a set but we won't know a final price until we get the price for the chrome charges.
TOM WHAT YOU HAVE DONE REALLY LOOKS GREAT, NOW WHY NOT GO THE EXTRA STEP AND FILL IN THE SPACE BETWEEN THE TOP OF THE VALVE COVERS AND THE BOTTOM OF THAT LONG CHROME PIECE ABOVE THE VALVE COVERS?CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW THE COVERS LOOK WITH THE FOOT PEGS. ONE QUESTION.
DO THESE VALVE COVER TAKE THE PLACE OF THE ORIGINAL VALVE COVERS OR MOUNT OVER TOP OF THE ORIGINAL COVERS.WHEN YOU PUT YOUR FEET ON THE HIGHWAY PEGS WHAT STRESS IS CAUSED TO THE VALVE COVERS :?:
The mounting holes that we have are 3/8-16 threads per inch holes about 1" deep .We put 2 holes so depending where you want your foot ,you will have some what of a choice, but if you tell what size tap hole you want or what size clearance hole we can do that to what ever you need we can do it if you want the cover smooth with no lettering or raise ridges or no ball groove .This is what make your bike stand out from all the rest, I think even Honda would be proud of this calve cover even if it does not say Honda on the valve cover .when we get this chrome plated it is going to look great.-
One quick comment, 145hp? is that wishful thinking or do you know something that I don't. I'll buy that item if it will get me 145hp out of my RUNE. Then the Screnming Eagle V-Rod I ride with will be toast.
145HP: the objective is to scare the cat poo out of the V-Rod dude while still in the parking lot of the local watering hole. Then, you can both pass on the drag race, go inside, and the Hog dude can buy you the beer you won! :idea:

well now that you dodge a bullet ken you should have a spare 1200. dollars so do i sine you up on the list for a set of top of the line valve covers, and you right Ken that is what that 145 hp is for so you don't have to waste your time with that V- ROD that my 2001 gl1800 will blow away anyway. come on all i need is 8 more sets

I think that before I get the valve cover I need to think about the shape, and see if there is another shape, or contour, that breaks up the rectangular signature of the F6. I'm thinking about the overall look presented by the combination of the headlight, the fuel injection shroud, and the exhaust system -- the flowing lines they insinuate. Is there something more outrageous than just milling the blood grooves? hmm Perhaps a teardrop taper. It would take a chunk of aluminum block larger, and therefore more cost, but, gee, when I add those nitrous bottles....
I know that I wont want the footpegs because I dropped and slid my Rune once. It was protected by the engine guard and a skid mark under the exhaust. A footpeg would be the first thang to hit and drag on the asphalt. Unless it 'breaks away' the peg would then transfer the weight etc to the engine mounts. Any addons for me need to stay inside that protective field, such as, my HID lights, which did not touch the asphalt because they are mounted midway on the top of the guard.
yes I agree with the high way peg issue, but most all the time you see a high way pegs on a bike it is all ways sticking out past the crash bar .and it is a lot of money to spend ,then to lay you bike down to tear it off would be terrible .we have not yet finish the design of the high way peg we are thinking about bringing the peg up a little but are not for sure yet. as far as the design of the cover it kind of looks like the old small block Chevy valve or a hi performance engine cover when you look at the bike you will not be able to tell if you have a 6 cylinder car engine or a motor cycle engine one thing is for sure, nobody will say is that a gl1800 gold wing engine.
and what we would do for any body that laid there bike down and screwed up our valve covers .we would replace it for what a stock cover cost from Honda now that is a hell of a deal. we will post more pictures soon of the new cover that is going on our rune the first one had some mistakes on it like that little void in the top should not be there .we should have turned right an we turned left
I think this is heading in the right direction. But, having it look similar to the original valve covers (with a new Logo) is not for me. I would want the valve covers to follow along the same lines as the gas tank or the fuel injector covers, something that looks more aerodynamic, with a sweeping teardrop type of shape. Just my preference.
OK. PUT ME IN for a set! Make sure the chrome looks great!
I want the grooves, or ridges, whatever you call them, to go completely across the cover, no space for writing. That way I can change my story as necessary depending upon who is asking what the He++ the bike is.

Ya know, I was thinking: if you could make a series of the banjobolt blood stabbers on the thing, instead of the grooves (think Beelejuice movie, when he turns into a sandspur??) that would fit in with all the prickly stickies Im putting on the bike. Whatdyathink? main thing is: IM IN!
Let's think Nitrous bottles for a moment (I actually, have thunk more than a moment on this)..... and mounting them somehow integrated onto the top of your top of the line valve cover. Is the overall dimension of the block you are machining from such that the top could be thicker for future drilling and tapping to put straps on the cover?
Or, is it too darn early in the morning and before coffee .. and I should think about mounting the bottles somewhere else? there are not too many somewhere elses.
I think the space between the valve cover top and the styled injection manifold cover would be great. So if there is a way to put a 'nubbie' on the top, on both sides, perhaps plugged with license plate bolts for future use I bet you can find it.
