Well folks, we only had 19 people (out of 200+) from the board vote on having a September Rune Rally. 8 said have it this year....8 said wait till next September....and there were a few other micsellaneous votes.

so, bottom line, i just can't get psyched to put something together for just 8 of us. Cause in all reality, when it comes time to go....those 8...due to work, personal issues, weather, etc, will wind up probably being just a few!

So...i've decided to do two things. One, on the Rally itself, let's wait till NEXT September. I know, it's a shame to have wait a whole year more...but what can i say? I tried to get folks interested to show up at Daytona last year. I put together a group ride and group dinner. Just a COUPLE showed up! then i tried to get something going for the Hoot this year...but only a handful showed interest. I invited folks to come to the CHeaha thing i put on...but only ONE showed up. only a hand full showed up at HOmecoming....and 9 showed up at InZane....which so far, is the 'biggest' gathering i've heard of or seen!

I'm hoping maybe by having an entire YEAR to plan this out...we'll get more than 8 to show up! So plan on a Rune Rally next year in September in Ashville, NC.

In the meantime, the 'other' thing i'll work on is to see if there is interest....enough to warrant setting it up....to have a group ride and group dinner at Biketoberfest in Daytona THIS October. if there is, i'll put it together. If there isn't, i'll blow it off again. We could meet at the Direct Line Tent at the Sunshine Mall again. I'm sure i can get Hal to sponsor us with some door prizes or something. so i'll look into making that happen...IF THERE IS INTEREST.

So, next September, Rune Rally. This OCtober, Rune get together at Daytona. Who's going to Daytona...and are you interested in a group ride (thru the park north of Daytona)...and/or meeting at a restaurant for grub...and meeting at Direct Line tent for a gathering...and maybe some door prizes or such.

Daytona anyone???

I'll be in Daytona for the SCRC FL state rally. There will be about 200 at the Thundergulch campground - three of us Rune riders that I know of. If you try to schedule the get together for Friday or Saturday afternoon, I'll drag the other two guys with me.

September 2005 Rune Rally - A MUST

Great try at setting it up this year, I think the short time line wasn't in our favour. Next year is a must and what I would like to do is sponsor an event that will attract the lost souls, so here goes. I will give $5000 to the selected rune that is voted by its peers as the Magic Rune of 2005. We will have to set up some conditions that will apply, eg you have to be there, must be within limits of original Rune, judged by peers who attend, can't vote for yourself, etc. Let me know, lots of time to organize. Maybe get other third party sponsors.

Hope this helps attract more enthusiasm, we have outstanding bikes, we should be outstanding enthusiasts as well.

if i understand you...

...you want to contribute $5000 to be given away to someone who comes to the Rune Rally we put on next September....and the 'winner' will have entered their bike in some kind of judging that we do. i guess we could have a Rune Bike Show at the Rally.....and the "People's CHoice" winner takes the 5k.

Is that what you are talking about? And 5k....man, you're my kind of Sugar Daddy!!! Hey....if you're sincere...we'll do it. Keep me posted.

and i WILL have a Rally for us next year....PERIOD. if 5k doesn't bring them out of the woodwork, i don't know what will???

of course if only 8 sign up (like this year)...i like those odds...being one of the eight!

we'll try to have some door prizes for THIS YEAR'S Daytona Biketoberfest too.....

Count me in. I've been riding most of my life. I love the idea of being one of the few that show up for this event . I love my ride, and feel a common bond with those people that ride this fine machine. See you there. Let's have some fun, come on, we'll have a great time!

Daytona not beaten

Biketoberfest is still on - Jeanne did some damage but the city is moving forward. As a matter of fact they extended Biketoberfesft from the 15th !!! You can go to www.biketoberfest.com for information.

When and where do you guys want to meet. The best day for me would be Thursday afternoon. Let me know if this works, or we can try for some time on Saturday. I'll be staying at the Thundergulch campground in Bunnell.

count me in as i am the rune god of coconut grove .... .... there isnt a mile that goes by that i dont turn a head or two........ the ride to daytona will be a pleasure and great to meet more runers ive met a few great folks here in miami .... my partner and i have two blackcherry runes..... ..anyone found a better solution than a backpack for weekend runs?

BTW - I got my custom chrome mirrors ;> ... can't wait to show off the paint and chrome and this girl lost weight to look good in the leathers to show off the bike in Daytona ---- watch out now !!!!!!!!

Okay, group...what is it going to be? DonnaM will be there all 4 days, Yr Hmbl Svnt (plain Valkyrie, sorry) will be Sat/Sun...how about Friday (or Saturday) afternoon at Sunshine Mall on South Ridgewood, across from Walker's?

RedValk: Have you tried Jax, St. Augustine, etc...It's about 1+15 on I95 (depending on traffic).

BB: How's the new job? Also, how did you get your gear to the Gulch? Donna's talking to Corbin about modifying a seat a la Adrian's post to carry a TBag.

If I don't see you, have a GREAT Biketoberfest...we went to Corbin on Main St. last Sat, and DonnaM's bike got MUCHO attention. The party was already revving up...even saw the Tuetels coming across the bridge by the Wreck!

Biketoberfest is a blast! Great weather...lots going on, traffic nothing like BW. DonnaM went Thursday, met her brother, went to Corbin on Main St. and ordered a seat like Adrian's modified to carry a Tbag (they called the factory, the same guy (Mike?, John?) is going to make this seat, for the same price Adrian got I might add. 4 weeks for delivery. We both went today, she had Motolights installed...their first Rune. They will have pics on the website soon (motolights.com). They used the caliper mount system, very neat...these lights are great for making you more visible to the cages and night riding. I have them, and Donna had them on her former bike (Shadow). They come in polished aluminum now, but Rob's working on a chrome version. We saw the prototype, it looks great. We highly recommend them. We also went to Main St. with friends, during both days, we saw ONE Rune, parked next door to Corbin. We might go back tomorrow, haven't firmed up plans. Guess we'll see ya'll in March. BTW, her bike is running flawlessly, keep your fingers crossed...ValkRdr

WELL YALL ID BE INTERESTED. IF YOUR LOOKING TO DO IT DURRING THE SUMMER, I MIGHT BE ABLE TO MAKE IT, BUT IT WILL BE A FEW YEARS BEFORE I GET BACK FROM IRAQ FOR GOOD . ILL BE LOOKING FOR ONE WHEN I GET BACK HOME AGAIN FOR SURE. :lol:
