Hey. I just took at 5200 mile road trip on my Rune. I started in Seattle, went down the west coast on 1/101, took a left after LA, went to Vegas, then up around the northern rim of the Grand Canyon, proceeded south to Tucson, then up to Roswell, NM, again went south to Ft. Stockton, TX, shot over to Huston, then rode through Miss/Alabam/Florida, reaching my final destination in Ft. Lauderdale.

OK, your turn.

You are a better man than me and :bow1: I admire your stamina.

Just reading your account I started feeling nauseous around the Grand Canyon. As you past Huston I developed an inflamed hemorrhoid and reached for my industrial sized tube of Preparation H. As you approached the Florida Panhandle the paramedics were administrating CPR as I was transported to the Medical Center.

I’m recovering now but every time I think of your ride I experience numbness throughout my lower extremities.

5200 miles. You got me beat by 50 miles. I went from SC to Denver Colorado last September. Took a lady 2-up up Pikes Peak w/no problems. Lots of "energetic velocity" riding, especially in Kansas. Rear tire change in Paducah KY on the way home (6,000 miles on the 210 tire), and oil change at home showed no oil consumption. The most mileage i did in 1 day was 950 miles.

The Corbin seat makes all the difference in the world. The passenger boards offer 2 alternate leg positions while riding.

I have just under 6k miles on the Rune and my actual miles logged was 5215. I met lots of great folks and am more convinced than ever that if we ever have a universal health plan in this country, we need to throw dental in as well. Wow. A bunch of folks in small towns all over America just don't proiritize dental hygiene :D

In a prior post, [ http://www.runeriders.com/viewtopic.php?t=1213 ] I mentioned that I had a custom seat made by Rich's Custom Seats in Seattle. The seat allowed for a detatchable back rest. I mounted a Riggpak on the seat back. Between the Riggpak and the pockets on my jacket, I had plenty of space.

Here's a picture of me and the bike at the start of the trip.

A redwood run in CA.

An Apache India Reservation [Casino/Hotel] in NM.

In the AZ desert at a picnic stop [hot tin roof, picnic table, trash can, about 50 miles from the nearest town].

And finally, preping the bike for shipment in Ft. Lauderdale.

PS. This trip was part of my official mid-life crisis.

Nice Pics!

Note: you will have to repeat the trip in various combinations over time to sustain the midlife crisis thing. One trip does not cure it. But, getting your Rune does help a whole lot! I am impressed that you did the trip without a wind screen and without a BrakeAway throttle lock!
