"Thank you for contacting Dunlop Motorcycle Tires. Appears they have some scheduled for the end of the month. No Promises because I have seen it scheduled then knocked back or knocked off the schedule ( crosses fingers). Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience.

Assuming they're scheduled for production, how do we get them? Do we need to go through a dealer or can we do a group buy through Mr. Lee directly?
I had my Dealer order BOTH a front and a rear for me on Tuesday. He was skeptical....as they just recently tried to get a front tire for another local Rune owner....failed....and wound up putting a 13 size (vs 15) on the front....a Gold Wing tire. I explained what has been posted and monitored here on the board...and that we are hopeful they're FINALLY going to make a run of OEM Dunlop front tires for the Rune. Anyway, mine are on order thru my dealer.....in case it really happens...............

I don't need a front tire NOW, but as hard as they are to come by....I felt it would be prudent to order one now and hold on to it for future use!

I've needed a rear tire since....eh.....MANY months ago. I think it's about ready to show chord? 🤪

"For anyone that Dealer ordered already, was a price given...I'm sure for many price is secondary to getting the tire(s)?"
I didn't ask about a price. I'm assuming....it will be kind of expensive.....but no matter the cost, it'll just be the "price of doing business" ....so to speak. So far it's been one week since I ordered, and no word on any status.

I just noticed yesterday BOTH of my Valkyries also need front tires....though those should be far easier to get. It seems I'm always needing tires, batteries, maintenance, etc.....every time I turn around! That's "the cost of doing business" for having a fleet of vehicles and such on the ranch I reckon'. Four wheeler, UTV, multiple trailers, travel trailer for camping (just put four new tires on that a couple of weeks ago....just under a grand for those), two horse trailers, tractors, lawn mowers, motorcycles, car, truck...........the list goes on and on. Literally, I'm buying something for maintenance at least every other month....if not more often! 🤪

It's been so long since I bought Dunlop OEM tires (riding so much less), I'd hate to even venture a guess on the price....I'd probably be WAY OFF......

I called my local shop/Dunlop dealer today and asked him to place an order. He is showing May 28th for availability of the front tire.

For those of you in the SF Bay Area - I highly recommended Advanced Cycle Services (ACS on the Dunlop site) 408-299-0508 / Jim.

So close..

"If not done prior by someone else, I will contact Thomas Lee of Dunlop Motorcycle Tires next week some time to verify if the tires were produced as scheduled.

"showing May 28th for availability" maybe once produced it takes that long
to make it down the supply chain to the selling dealer?

I will also verify the tires will be available by way of online supply/parts sites like JPCycles, Revzilla, etc,
for those that change their own tires."
I would go back to the D251s when I hear they last 12,000+ miles, and they are priced fairly.

This reminds me I need to get another BT46 ordered to put on my tire pile for the front of mine this summer. Thinking about attending the Valk Inzane event in VA in June. I just finished putting another 240/40-18 Stinko on the back of my 09 Vmax today. I think I got a record breaking 1800 miles out of the bare one I took off. I have to put a front tire on it SOON as well, as I am prepping it for the annual max rally in Eureka Springs, AR in 3 weeks.

"Thank you for contacting Dunlop Motorcycle Tires. The tire in question is scheduled for production within the next 30 days. This means the tire can start production tomorrow or 30 days from today. Please note this production scheduled can change at any time. We do appreciate your patience and apologize for the inconvenience.

Hi Tom;
Understood, and I have no real hope with the D251's, but I hear they changed compounds a couple of times.
I'll let others test them out before I consider buying...

Hello Big Jim... Just a suggestion for ya... In order to get better mileage out of your rear tires, maybe you should consider trying to not ride out of those smoke clouds quite so often... HaHa:cool:
Can we order the tire directly from Dunlop? Maybe we can do a group buy directly from Mr. Lee?
do a group buy?
"Seeing you asked this before, I'll answer based on my point of view on a group buy.
-First you need someone willing to be the point of contact or speak for the group, then you have to see if Mr. Lee or Dunlop is OK with the group buy, if so, how many tires most be ordered for a group buy,
than you have to find the members willing to meet the number required,
plus get that number to stay committed and not backout for whatever reason, etc.

In short, group buys have not gone all that well in the past.

RedValk: IF he opts to add in here has more insight than I do on group buys/orders."
Given my experience (people backing out....not putting "their money where their mouth is")....I know I personally won't be a point of contact or attempt to put a group buy together. If someone else wants to do it....that's their business. My gut feeling is, Dunlop won't even do it. But hey, I've been wrong a time or two before (but right.....a WHOLE bunch of times!). I just know most the times I got involved in group buys, I got burned (Rune calendars, Rune trading cards, a couple of times on Rune shirt orders, a couple of different things with RIVCO, etc.). Folks say they want it....but then.....for whatever reason (and we've heard a lot of excuses in the past!), many back out and never put their money up front. And the deal falls thru. And I...............get egg on my face.

But again, if someone else wants to put something together.....hey......go for it. I currently have a front and rear Dunlop OEM tires on order with my Dealer. Haven't heard a peep out of them on any updates. If someone can convince Dunlop to actually do a group buy for us.....and IF we actually had the numbers WHO REALLY will put their money up front, I'd probably even join in and cancel my order with my Dealer. BUT ONLY, if it was a sure thing.

I just have SERIOUS doubts......a group buy with Dunlop.....will come to fruition. I can think of several probable reasons why I think that way. But I'd love for someone to prove me wrong..............I need a new front tire (eventually)....like a lot of others..............

If you have an interest in a group buy, why don't you contact Mr. Lee and see if it's possible. Or start a thread/poll on here and see if the members have an interest in one."

I have already contacted Mr.Lee. I’ll provide an update on a potential group buy once he responds.
