2nd Satuday of each month is our Vermin (Pacific NW Valkyrie riders club) breakfast meeting at 0900. We met at the No Bull saloon in Renton for breakfast and lit out afterwards for the Cascades. About 35 Valks at the mtg and 13 for the all day ride. (Mine was the only Rune) Went north then east on hwy 20 (the North Cascades Highway) on a spectacular day here for this time of year. The hwy just openned for the season last thurs. Earliest date openned in history. We have been having a wierd winter; strangely warm and almost no snow pak in the mountains. The state has already declared a water emergency as we are dependent on the sno pak for our water in the dry summer months ahead. Still a bit of snow along side the road at Rainy Pass but not much. Dropped down into Winthrop and blew thru Twisp and Methow and turned south for Wenatchee then headed west on hwy 2 and took the Blewit pass exit to hook up with 90 for the run back into Seattle... Since we got a late start after the mtg, it was a long day but spectacular scenery and lots of climate changes, over 3 mountain passes and hit Seattle at 1900 hours, about 450 miles. The Rune is a fabulous machine! Great kick off to what is stacking up to be best riding season ever here in the NW.
