Go for it!

HI Rich,

I changed the oil and filter at about 3,300 miles and put synthetic in at the time. I use it in my Shadow and in my cars. I’ve read, on this forum, many ideas on when and what to use, it gave me a headache.

Just put the synthetic in and if the engine blows up I’ll be the first to extend my heartfelt condolences.
Chuck,
Before I get to thanking you for the info on the proper time to change to synthetic oil I want to thank you for the bail money a week and a half ago, I don't know what I would do without you heartfelt love and support.
Being on strike now I can hardy afford the payments on my Rune. Please send any donations that you can spare.
Thanks, Rich
Synthetic oil change

Changed mine at about 1300 miles...no problems with consumption, etc.
No reason to extend oil changes, it is simple and oil/filters are cheap. (remember that Corvettes come from the factory with Mobil 1 installed at no mileage)

Time to change final drive oil though....nearing 2100 miles....

I was trying to give Chuck the opportunity to be helpful. I knew what he was going say. I will do the opposite !!! How's the back Chuck :?:
Thanks, and take care.

I rode my brand new Rune to Aiken SC and at 500 miles, switched to Amsoil 10-40 motorcycle oil. Now I am at 12,200 miles, and just did my 4th oil change with Amsoil yet again. The rear end I did at some early mileage which is posted. People need to get over the myths and understand that synthetic ester based oil is better because the molecular structure is consistent, whereas Dino oil still has lots of complicated hydrocarbon chains that break down. Since we have this fourm, we will all be able to keep track of how our machines age and compare :)
Ken,
I did just about the same with my 98 Valk.Switched over to Mobil 1 at 3600 miles. I now have 21,000 on my beauty and she still runs like a champ.

Amsoil Motorcycle rated oil has more zinc than Mobile 1. Which brand exactly are you using?
Ken,
I've been using the old red cap 15/50. I bought 7 five qt. containers from wall mart before mobil changed their formula. It was what all the guys on the VRCC board were using in their valks'
